Stylised graphics always seem to slow down the aging process. Look at any game from the 90s that aimed for realism.

Metal Fatigue, managed to get it working on my xp ...and I still love it
Custom giant robots beating the crap out of each other. Hell yes.

Also: Fucking captchas, they're damned unreadable. Took me three fucking attempts.
That's what I loved, the fact that mechs were actually custom and I adore the 3 plain terrain with underground, normal and air. I really wish someone would just make that in shiny graphics, I'd go pay for that instantly.

Baldur's Gate 1, Final Fantasy VII, and Soul Reaver. Each game was absolutely groundbreaking for their time and I love them, but I could never recommend them to someone who wasn't already familiar with them before or to someone who never really plays old games. The visuals are very difficult to get your head around, the controls are clunky, and some points which were dead serious come across as slightly comical just because of the time gap. I love them all to death though, and still play them.

I'd say Final Fantasy 7, when it came onto PSN it was pretty cool to be playing it out where and whenever I liked. However that wore off quickly and it was like, ok not point in going on. Also the graphics pale compared to some rpgs we can play on mobile systems. Persona 3 Portable comes to mind.
Really? I played FF7 recently, and while, yes I agree, the graphics are a turn off, the gamplay and the story completely got me immersed. It's one of the best RPG's I've ever played, despite the graphics being rubbish compared to our modern technology. It's worth playing and replaying even now. But I guess that's just me, I don't necessarily play for graphics.

Sly cooper and the thevius raccoonus, i recently played it and it was hard as balls and I missed the open world and multiple characters to play as along with the variety in missions. Compared to the other games it kinda shitty stand alone it's just ok.

I think my issue with it is that I've played FF7 so many times now that I can recall all the major plot points and characters by heart. Though I've yet to reach the point where I can recite the script from memory.

Ocarina of Time. It still holds a great deal of nostalgic appeal for me, and will always have a special place in my heart as the Zelda game that introduced us to Link's voice. If I'm being totally honest with myself, though, I have to admit that it is torture to play today. The graphics I can forgive, as I've never been one to dismiss a game for its visuals, but the awkward, not-quite-there controls just kill it for me. Every time I try to go back and replay it, I end up replaying Wind Waker instead.

Hopefully the upcoming 3DS re-release will rectify this.
