Things like the various Vaults, the Dunwich building (that shit was scaaaary), those recognisable Washington monuments all in ruin and of course exploring all those ruins, various side-quests and other random stuff (like that collection of , I must say that FO3 was pretty packed with things to do and explore. Oblivion...well, not thát much, come to think of it. All those random dungeons littered around weren't very interesting, usually.Dreyfuss said:Exploration seems like the only thing that could be fun in a game like that, but what's fun about exploring a mostly flat, barren wasteland? I really don't get Oblivion and FO3. Maybe I just never found the interesting areas because they both bored me away so quickly.
This, but with better hardware. My first thought was: "How the fuck do they do that?", in reference to the portals. I then spent the next two days trying to work out how you could possibly program portal technology in a game.Chamale said:Portal, on a crappy laptop, in the dark, with bad earphones and a sticky mousepad. Absolutely incredibly good game.
I own SoC and I love it! I'm pretty early in the game, but the atmosphere is palpable. I haven't even seen too many abominations (I don't remember what they're called xD), but just walking down the road is enough to freak me out.Jennacide said:You've become a PC-elitist? Then do this:
1) Go buy STALKER: SoC.
2) Download STALKER Complete 2009
3) Install game and Complete update
4) Enjoy the awesome!
If you like the first game, get Call of Pripyat too. Clear Sky wasn't all that great, but it's version of Complete makes it much better. Still inferior to Complete SoC, which is downright amazingly good. A warning though, STALKER games are awesome, but have one redundant flaw (other than high PC reqs); thier final areas are universally bad. The last parts of all 3 STALKER games are the worst parts of the games, but getting to them and the actual story is worth it.
Only other game I insist people play is Torment, which you started thread saying you did. Cheers.
I've thought about it too. The Source engine has technology to help a lot. For example, the technology that lets you set up a camera, and turn another surface into a "TV Screen" showing whatever the camera sees.Tharwen said:This, but with better hardware. Oh I remember that. My friend rented a ps2 and that game, neither of us were sure about it but by god we had beaten it by sunup and it was just so... wow.LustFull0ne said:Shadow of the Colossus blew me away. A game that huge for the PS2 made my head implode and neck pulse.
