Well to be fair any game that's heavily menu and party management has to be a bore to watch to save the rpgs. That said "Football manager," and the like probably take the cake. That and cookie clicker.

Every MOBA ever made.
They all look so boring I don't understand how people can play them.
I second that. Really can't wrap my head around why they are so popular.

ARMA.
As someone who enjoys tactical shooters, ARMA seems to take too much time an effort, I've realized, after watching some 35 minutes of it. Sure, it's realistic, and, with the correct group of people, it can be a satisfying experience of modern warfare, but that's not exactly going to be the most fun you can have.

Hm, from what I've seen, I'd have to say Civilization, and all games like it. I watched Game Grumps play it, and I've seen friends play it occasionally in real life, but, and let me emphasize first that I perfectly understand that everyone has every right to like what they like, and this is not a case of the game being bad, but me simply being unable to pick up on what characteristics people love about it, but it is one of the few games where I cannot even comprehend how people enjoy it. It's just that foreign to me. I don't really like FPS or racing games for instance, but I feel like I can at least grasp vaguely how people can enjoy them, but Civ, I can't even comprehend what aspect of it people enjoy.

Just to reiterate, I completely understand that it is probably a great series, and that I am the one missing the point, and that me not liking the game in no way makes other's crazy/inferior for liking it.

Oh I don't know ... minecraft, Journey and Flower!

I've played Flower and minecraft and found both to be as mind numbing as they look. I watched Burnie and Ray from Rooster teeth play through the game and it just looked boring as all fuck.

I came in here to jump on the DotA-derivative hate-train (seriously, clicking in circles to time a last-hit is nothing short of a broken game mechanic resulting in tedium)... but then I was reminded of facebook games. Candy Crush, Bejeweled, the Sim City flash game... I have no idea what the draw could possibly be, but my roommate plays the shit out of 'em... and it makes me want to go stare at a tree in the yard for some relative excitement.

Pretty much every MMO out there, especially EVE Online. Many strategy games are dull to watch as well. As are fighting games in general. And MOBA:s. And Minecraft.

hm... what do I like to watch? Ah, yes. Fitzthistlewitz.

Well if you're talking about 'watching' a game being played then I could understand that my two favourite genre's, PC turn based strategy and JRPG's, while they can keep my occupied for countless hours could look pretty dull from an outside perspective.

For my own pick though I'll jump on MOBA's as well. I mean I played the Starcraft 2 version and thought it was a pretty good mod, but not something you can make an entire game out of with millions of players and the biggest professional match viewership. Though I'm guessing that last part is a direct result of the millions of players part, I can enjoy watching Starcraft 2 games without playing it but there's just not enough worthwhile things going on in a MOBA for me.

And I guess I could say the same thing about small scale online FPS games. I found Counterstrike fun to play for a bit but not something I could do over and over again. Guess I'm just afflicted with the "one more turn" bug, and not the "one more match" that you get in fast paced online games.

CRAP I CAN'T HOLD IT RUN FOR YOUR LIFAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OT: I guess I'd have to say most sports games in general, it baffles me as to how those games manage to make money when the sports are as boring to play in game as they are to watch

What can I say, I am unimpressed with preciousness and the only game play being jump and glide. Just doesn't tickle my balls, as it were.

Edit: anyway, the game is only like 2 hours long.

I agree, I can't be arsed to play it because of how dull it looks. People say you can't judge a game if you haven't played it- there's a goddamn reason I'm not playing it.
But it works both ways, GTA Online looks really fun when Syndicate plays it but in reality it's not as fun as that at all.
Oh, also lots of indie horror games like slender, amnesia, outlast and one that was posted in another thread called something like Recall? They all look excruciating.
