Now an amazing thing for a game is for it get you emotionally invested in the story, some even mannage to get the audience to cry (doesnt include crysis cause it killed your computer). Now the only game that i know has made me cry is the ending to mass effect 2 overlord dlc.

Does anyone have a game that made them cry or at least shed a tear.

Rarely do games make me shed tears but any form of media that deals with brothers usually causes me to cry. Having a brother of my own, two but only one lives with me, I can usually relate to the issues these characters have. Now in the case of Devil May Cry 3, I know what it's like to utterly detest your brother but at the same time, love him unconditionally. Siblings, no matter how much they annoy you or make you mad, will never cause you to stop loving them.

The ending to Devil May Cry 3 causes me to choke up every time mainly due to the musical score and how in the end, no matter how badly they wanted to kill each other, they also didn't. They had this relationship where they wanted each other's blood, for the other to die a horrible death but at the same time, they wanted things to work out. It's underplayed but you can sense all those emotions simply from how they react to the situation.

The game was so badly made that I just couldn't stop crying from how horrible it was... oh wait thats not what you meant.

In the other thread that had this I talked about how in Mass Effect 2 Garrus
gets shot and appears to be dead
I screamed and yelled at my computer and I would be lying if my eyes didn't start to water.

But lets see another game... Ah, the end of Portal 2 was pretty sad. More of a its over kind of thing. And the turret song was really eerily beautiful.

Portal 2 spoiler
and if that didn't do it having the burnt up companion cube at the end was guaranteed to

The good ending to Fallout 3 made me cry a bit. Because I played a truly selfless hero who cared only for others.

The "Sacrifice" endings to Dragon Age: Origins and Neverwinter Nights 2, Mask of the Betrayer, also did this for me. Very bittersweet

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. A certain character dies very early in the game. He's not very significant, but his death scene had me choked up for a while

Legendary ending of Halo 3
"Wake me, when you need me"

[start crying/]

So sad to see the saviour of the human race be locked away in deep space.

I lost Garrus in Mass Effect 2. It's a testament to how immersive the series is that I considered the cinematic death of a bunch of predetermined animations and dialogue sequences akin to the death of a good friend.

Eh, the Master Chief isn't a very interesting character. Hard to feel sad about him. Now, had they done that with the Arbiter. . .

Some people could see it that way, but he really reflected how quiet and lonely I can be at times (omg i sound emo), so i feel his pain.

This thread was up a couple of weeks ago as well, guess i'll just post what I posted there.

Never really played a game that made me cry, the only exception being when I was child of like...9 or 10, defeating Red at the end of Silver Version made me cry. I didn't really know why then, could have been relief as I hadn't known he was in the game and literally stumbled across him totally unaware of the monster I was about to face off with.

But now that I'm older I think I understand better. I cried because I had bested myself, because my adventure had come full-circle. I began in Pokemon Red version with my Charmander. We fought our way through so much until we became the champions, me and my Charizard. And then, to find myself and face off with my Typhlosion against my old Charizard...that just really affected me as a kid. I was so happy to have overcome the final obstacle in my path; so happy to be able to see my Charizard one last time. When the REAL ending credits rolled I just blubbered like a baby and shook the GBC around in joy.

Dem Credits.

In the very first Call of Duty, when you run towards the German lines without a weapon as a Russian soldier and an orchestral version of the hymn "O the Deep Deep Love of Jesus" plays as you see so many men gunned down needlessly...it was deeply powerful and moving to me.

=0 I challenge any to find a sadder ending than this game.

Rule of Rose was a ps2 survival horror game where it was Lord of the Flies with a group of orphan girls. Throughout the game, the unliked girl Jennifer is reliving her memories and trying to accept the atrocities that happened there and the one that she herself did.

Throughout the game you have a dog that helps you. You can pet him, give him snacks. He in turn fights off enemies, finds items, and is your only friend.

The game plays sort of like Memento due to her memories being out of order. Early on she finds the dog bloody and beaten to death in a sack. Yet, he shows up alive in the next scene.

You go around trying to figure out what happened the night a crazy guy came and killed all the orphan girls. Throughout the game, you must give gifts to the elite club made by the girls. Those with the worst gift are given a punishment (put in a bag with bugs, prodded with a dead rat on a stick)

At the very end of the game, she accepts that she did not help the other girls as they were being murdered by this crazy guy. In addition, she accepts the fact that she had given up something valuable to be accepted into the girl's elite club. She gave up her dog knowing that they will beat him to death, which they do promptly.

In the epilogue, it flashes back to her first memory of coming to the orphanage. She is going around the place and finds this shack. Inside is a puppy that she names Brown. She holds him tightly and promises that she will always take care of him and will never let any harm come to him.

I was crying so hard when the credits started rolling then. I was also yelling at the screen for Jennifer giving him up to the bullies. You really bond with the dog throughout the game and he was like the only spot of happiness in her life (the orphans bullied each other, there was a killer guy who cooked kids, and you discover that the headmaster was into little girls).

I can't quite remember, but I will admit I almost teared up at the bit in Mega Man 10, when the ill Roll generously gives her vaccine to Mega Man.
