Post games here that made you sad. Halo 3 made me depressed. Master chief lived at the end. So now i know they're going to continue milking the Halo series till it dries up and withers.

The Longest Journey

The games ending is just brutally melancholy, as strange as that sounds. The story starts out all happy-fun-adventure-time but as it progresses the story just becomes more and more founded into reality in it's strange way and as you grow to love the main character, things slowly go from bright and shinning towards this grim finale that left me feeling down for quite a while after the credits were done rolling. Poor April Ryan.

Same thing happens with it's sequel Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Starts out cheerful and pleasant and gradually, just as you come to love the characters, grows darker and more grim till the heartbreaking end which again left me feeling down. Poor April... and poor Zoe.

There had better be a third game is all I gotta say. That story needs resolution, you can't just leave two of gamings most sympathetic and believable characters in situations like that. Dammit, they deserve better!

The end of disc 1 in Final Fantasy VII was sad, as was the end of Final Fantasy X.

this sounds kinda like another thread I saw which asked you to post a part of a game that made you sad.and it isn't old.

doesn't that make this a repeat?

anyways I'm going with when I rented sonic the hedgehog (the new version with the same name) and saw the loading screens, which wouldn't of been so bad If I ever saw anything else.

the death of Gaz in COD 4 was pretty upsetting, I liked that guy! Also, Dad dying in Fallout 3 wasn't exactly a cheery moment either.

Oh, and loosing in game 7 of the Stanley cup finals in NHL 09...but that's just me
To be honest, there's not much that upsets me in games. As that Brainhex test said, I'm pretty merciless in gaming.

The first GBA Fire Emblem game had a pretty sad moment where the protagonist...
accidentally kills another primary character
Also, Penumbra has some really sad moments, including one very similar to the one I just mentioned. Except what happens this time is OUTSIDE of a cutscene. The game has a lot of demented tricks up its sleeve.

Ahhh I didn't like that Dad died haha, I hate having dogmeat around because he dies too if he gets in a fight with too big of an enemy =(

I'm pretty sure you don't accidentally kill someone in FE at least not in the remake of the first one. The game says you have to send someone off to their death so Marth can get away. Unless you mean not noticeing a crucial enemy and they accidentaly die from your own Epic Miss. I do that alot near the end.

The end of Dungeon Keeper 2 and then when they said that they wouldn't be making the 3rd installment that the 2nd clearly leaves open.

Also the end of Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell, when Eve finally has enough of living in Pergatory and absorbs Alaster and turns against you, you didn't get to fight in game but i knew i was going to have to kill her.

Uh...Marth?
If I'm correct, the first American GBA Fire Emblem involved Eliwood, Hector, and Lyndis.

The Bad Ending in Devil Survivor DS.

You escape the Tokyo Lockdown, but dozens of people controlling the demons as well. You create a world where the strong control everything, where friendship, love or compassion don't exist. You were not punished by God, but at the same time you didn't receive His blessing. And it shall exist until Man proves he has changed and is willing to repent.

It kinda shocked me, really. I knew that I'm going for the "Bad" ending, I read a spoiler by an accident... But I didn't know it was THAT BAD ending.

Actually, the only truly "good" endings are the "Neutral" ones :/ But I guess that's normal for the Shin Megami franchise...
