The Longest Journey
The games ending is just brutally melancholy, as strange as that sounds. The story starts out all happy-fun-adventure-time but as it progresses the story just becomes more and more founded into reality in it's strange way and as you grow to love the main character, things slowly go from bright and shinning towards this grim finale that left me feeling down for quite a while after the credits were done rolling. Poor April Ryan.
Same thing happens with it's sequel Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Starts out cheerful and pleasant and gradually, just as you come to love the characters, grows darker and more grim till the heartbreaking end which again left me feeling down. Poor April... and poor Zoe.
There had better be a third game is all I gotta say. That story needs resolution, you can't just leave two of gamings most sympathetic and believable characters in situations like that. Dammit, they deserve better!
