So I've been playing Civilization 5 recently and I've noticed that I can play for hours at a time without even noticing it passing, to the extent that I even forget about meals. The only other game I've experienced that with would be Morrowind. Where I could explore for hours at a time, often not even bothering with the quests.

So I'm curious. With what games, if any, have you experienced this?

When you're as fat as I am, you don't forget about meals.

Also eyestrain, probably because I like to play in the dark, but 5+ hours, even with breaks, and my temples start throbbing; and that's why I don't do that all the time. Well not all in one block anyway.

The Sims games. And right now XCOM Enemy Unknown. It has that just one more turn quality to it. And then you get to the base and say let's fiddle some bit here. And then you're on a new mission! And it's 2 am.

A lot of RPGs, with Pokemon probably beling the most guilty of this.

And Football Manager. And judging by the beta for the new version, it's only going to get worse =P

I remember the first time I played Morrowind. I woke up at about 9 am and stared playing. I stopped at around 6 pm when I accidentally unplugged my computer's power cord with my foot and realized I was very hungry and thirsty. Good times.

AS much as I might be addicted to videogames, I always know what time it is and whatnot.

That dosnt means I wont go into 5 hours streaks, thougt.

Minecraft, I played til dawn and it took me a minute to realize that the sun coming up wasn't square. Also Skyrim, it may not be the most interesting or challenging game but that kind of game you can just turn your brain off and wake up 12 hours later.

Anytime that I play a SRPG (Disgaea, FF Tactics, etc.), I tend to lose track of time and instead of investing only an hour into the game, I can sometimes spend a good 2-4 hours without realizing it.

Another games that causes me to break my gaming curfew is the Uncharted series. The games are just so action packed and full of fun dialogue that I want to finish a whole section of the story instead of just stopping at the the next chapter.

Crusader Kings II does this to me. All the time. I sit down for a quick assassination of a pretender and I end up going on a crusade against the Almohadivs, prepare for a power grab on the british throne via succession disputes and goad my minions into costly civil wars against one another as to weaken them if they try to revolt. I love that game...

I've been working a 6am shift this week and last night I was playing White 2 in bed, started at 8, didn't realise the time pass and it was 2 am when I looked at the ingame clock! D:

I crashed a truck as a result.

..

[small]Totally worth it[/small]

Also Battlefield: Bad Company 2, if my mates are up for it, still takes me straight through a night with my impulse for destruction and furious vengence. Remember that guy who ran the full length of Harvest Day on Rush to stab you for camping on the first UAV position?

It was me.

XCOM right now, Minecraft when I'm the mood.
Oh, I once played Halo 2 (sitting cross legged), for so long that I started to feel this weird pain near my stomach. I wondered at the back of my mind what it was now and again but ignored it.
I played until Uprising (Arbiter level where in you fuck up the Brutes shit) when I suddenly realised I was BURSTING for a piss, went to stand up and fell straight back down.
My legs, had died and I had to crawl to the toilet.

Totally worth it

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Crusader Kings 2. Quickly leaped up to my most played game on steam. always happens that I'll say to myself "oh, I'll just play for another 10 mins then I'm done for the afternoon". Then I look up at my clock after what feels like 10 mins, "HOLY CRAP it's been an hour and a half! How the hell..."

I'm totally getting that with Borderlands 2 right now. Deathtrap and I go on some serious rampages. I forget about quests and just go from spawn point to spawn point destroying stuff. It's pretty fun seeing how long I can keep my robot pal going.
