Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth needs a sequel. Sadly, the compnay went bankrupt before they started working on the sequel, and even before they finished the PC version of the game.
Are you sure? I am pretty certain I played that game on the PC as I never owned an Xbox.
It was really cool, yes, though the addition of guns didn't do the game very well, I'm afraid. In a sequel, that could be fixed, and afaik, Bethesda still has the rights, so maybe...
Basically the company went bankrupt halfway through the development of the PC version, which was going to be larger and better than the xbox version, but when the company went bankrupt most of the people just quit, then a handful stayed and slowly just quit as they continued developing the game and finally there were probably only 2 or 3 people working on it when they finished it.
The inclusion of guns, I didn't think was so bad, considering there were still things that guns couldn't do shit about (the shoggoth and the little cthulhu beast things) and even when you got the crazy yithian gun, you still had those annoying as hell Polyps to deal with and overall I thought it was a good game.
Also, it should be noted that Bethesda, I don't think had much involvement in the game as a whole, it was Headfirst's game and Bethesda was there to keep the game going.
If you look at some of the concept videos, the original game was going to be pretty awesome. One of the concepts was that your character would lose his sanity temporarily and friendly characters would all of a sudden appear to be deep ones to you and you'd flip out and kill them... Only to realize that it was just your friend who was in no way a deep one. I really would like to see a remake of the game the way it was originally intended to be, and then a sequel like was planned.
