Sorry if someone has already quoted you and made my point, but I find the Jetpack in reach isn't for flying,so much as jumping over large distances and giving the enemy a face full of what your packing.I find that with strategy is very fun and quite good and taking enemies otu when they're a great distance from you.JUMBO PALACE said:I didn't find the jetpack in Reach to be particularly beneficial or fun to use. Yay I can go up in the air slowly and become an incredibly obvious and vulnerable target!
Jetpacks should be in exploration games in wich a jetpack would seem natural.
you are both talking about the same game except one person is refering to the campaign and one person is refering to the online multiplayerAjimboB said:Gears already IS halo, but in third person, and instead of jumping you roll around on the ground.Blue_vision said:Sounds like someone loves Gears but has no idea why it's good.AjimboB said:Sounds like someone's never actually played a match of Gears.
Shotgun rolling on the ground anyone?
It's intended (and pulls of) being a cover based game. Mobility is important in that you need to advance to the next piece of cover. Adding a jetpack into that mix would either make the jetpack a useless gimmick, or turn the game into a totally different game, more like Halo or something.
Seriously, go play a match in gears of war right now. The primary tactic on online play is to run up to your opponent and blast them in the face with the shotgun. It's not to use cover and tactically move around the map, flanking your opponent's cover as a team, it's run in rambo with a shotgun.
What you're describing is how Gears was intended to be played, but not how it is. The only time you ever see someone actually use cover is if they have the sniper rifle.

Similarly, I was playing Red Faction Guerilla, and felt the same way until jetpack.
So, where else should we insert jetpacks?
Ever heard of Tribes Vengeance? No? well if you're so jet-pack obsessed you should look into it.Siris said:So I was playing Halo Reach and found the game to only be so so until I found the jetpack. Then I started enjoying myself.

Kirby, just for the sheer uselessness. or Fable, just because it always infuriated me that I couldn't jumpSiris said:So I was playing Halo Reach and found the game to only be so so until I found the jetpack. Then I started enjoying myself.

You know about Tribes too?! **high fives**Tankichi said:Tribes need Jetpacks......ZING! If you put jetpacks in games it can either be Fun with the freedom to move or in most cases just give pricks more places to camp or attack from other spots you can't always be watching.
