Interesting choice. What medium, then, should it have been? Movie? TV show? Comic book? Novel?
I find it hard to imagine Heavy Rain as anything else but a video game, honestly, what with its de-lineralized plot.
In terms of a linear plot, what about Tarantino movies? Pulp Fiction had a non-linear story and it worked out really well.
Well, I was referring to ability of the game to move on and the plot to adapt accordingly if a character died.
Edit: I mean, wasn't that one of Heavy Rain's selling points? Btw, welcome to the Escapist!
Yeah, it was, but that's only considered to be non-linear in an interactive medium like a game (and when describing Heavy Rain, I use the term "game"
very loosely). In a movie or TV show, say, the death of a character is scripted like everything else. It could easily be turned into another medium so long as the producers stuck to one of the potential iterations of the plot...which, since they all lead up to pretty much the same ending, honestly wouldn't change all that much.
