Surprised nobody has mentioned Chime yet. Simple premise puzzle game, nice ambient music, it's super relaxing for me at least.

Fallout's world is just too depressing to be relaxing.
they're very similar games, and i've always thought that fallout3 had the edge, but somehow always preferred oblivion, and somehow never realised that this was why :S

Just Cause 2 I've found to be very effective. Especially driving at insane speeds and launching yourself into a wall.

Hell, I have a lot of games for when I just need to switch off and relax.

- Alien Trilogy
- Timesplitters
- Dawn of War
- The Sims 3
- Manhunt (very theraputic)
- Turok
- Dead Rising
- Painkiller
- Splatterhouse

I could go on.

It's a little weird that a lot of my 'relax after a stressful day' games are extremely violent yet I happen to be a very passive and peaceful person.

Saints Row 2, the pure 'running around and causing so much havoc' approach of the game just makes me feel so relaxed post-arguement. Shooting fictional grannies in the face with a RPG always cures the need to punch a real human being to death.

All of them? I mean that's the whole point of a hobby isn't it?

Flower is so soothing and new agey if you want to relieve stress studies show doing something that CALMS you is better then doing something that is frantic and will wind you up.
THIS! Dear god THIS. You CANNOT be pissed off, frustrated, stressed, anxious, or wound up in any way while playing Flower.

I used to fall asleep with the main menu on. Just sit there, at the main menu, after a long day at work, and let the music go. Turn off the lights, lay down on the couch and just... sort of... drift away....

Flower, while people have already said it, it stays the most relaxing game you will ever play.

Kingdom Hearts.

1 or 2 both work really relaxing, because (especially in 2) fighting is really easy and you can easily overpower your enemies.

Lots of awesome fun.
Also the music, god the music!

In the past 7 months I've found myself experiencing bouts of anger that I see as totally justifiable, and I've needed ways to sorta calm myself down a bit before I do any work, so first off back in February I bought Painkiller on Steam and found that the titular weapon was amazingly effective at making me feel better (no doubt because I'm an absolute sociopathic lunatic), and the game had an overall cthartic effect, but then the wheel on my mouse broke and I haven't sorted a new mouse just yet. The anger was triggered again yesterday morning so I went on G-Mod and spawned scored of Alyx and Mossman (as those who upset me bear resemblance to them) and went on a crowbar rampage, which was quite amusing, I thought.

2 questions for you: Am I totally messed up? And have you ever found a game like that that just makes you feel better, whether relieving anger or anything else?
I'll give you the perfect game to calm you down.

Kirby epic yarn

Honestly , everything is so cute and colorful, and the game is fun to boot . The music is so happy go lucky , i found myself playing the game when i was mad at my gf and it went away instantly. A great stress reliever if i ever saw one. I dare you to play it when your in a bad mood

Spider Solitaire. I don't know why, but usually I start playing after a stressful workday and have to stop because I forgot to eat.

Any game where you can murder people freely is perfect for stress relief. When I'm pissed off taking it out on some virtual flashy ragdolls is definitely very therepeutic.
