hmm... good thread, really good
or bad, since it reminds you of how everything besides [insert your fav-game here] just... doesn't cut it
-RPG: BG2+ToB & KotOR 1 (if they just let them finish KotOR II properly, but noooo...); and of course Vampire: Bloodlines; a pretty different approach than the other two games mentioned, but by no means worse
-FPS: FEAR (pc) - very very nice shooter, plus heart-stopping (no horror game worked as good for me as FEAR. no, not even silent hill. and go away with dead space and doom and all this crap)
-3rdPS (TPS??): Max Payne 1 - it's just... pure style
gameplay, story, characters... it was like playing a movie
-RTS: Haegemonia, somehow. mostly because of terraforming. i was almost drooling all over my keyboard ^^
-3rd person freak-stuff: Tension (or The Void, depending on where you're from) - it was... is... one big WTF?! love it! ^^
-MMO: Star Wars Galaxies (before they killed it, with the combat upgrade, new experience, jedi-village and shit. the old version, where there were only a handfull of jedi on each server, and none of them knew why they were jedi. it actually was a role-playing-game. not like the stuff that's called rpg because it's got levels and skilltrees and classes. that does not mean role playing, ffs)
