Anything turn based. Just wouldn't make sense.
Ever played the Civilisation series? Heroes of Might and Magic series? Worms series? Masters of Orion series? Plenty of games work well in turn based multiplayer. Not to mention Chess.

OT: I agree with everyone who's put forward Fallout 3. The mind just shudders at the thought....

Any Elder Scrolls game. I know alot of folks wish it was multi-player - but what makes it great is its a top notch single player game. Now I could see multi-player being limited to say a auction house or something like that. But multi-player straight up - Would ruin what I love about Morrowind and Oblivion - F5 - F5 - F9 - F9 ;-)

Mass Effect.
I strongly disagree Mass Effect could have multiplayer without it demolishing the entire franchise the other players would take control of the other squadmates instead of AI and that would be that they would certainly be more effective flankers than the AI and the Story wouldnt be hampered by having competent teammates (and not bored friends for like the next few days after I buy ME3)
The only way that would work in coo-op would be if the other person didn't have any control until the action started. ME is a personal experience, I certainly wouldn't want someone else interfering in my decisions along the way.

He means any game with the option of turn-based combat, or bullet time, has anyone played fears multiplayer? how did that work out?

Ah, fair do's. Crossed wires there, methinks. I haven't played multiplayer Fear myself, but a friend of mine has and didn't reckon it was up to much.

MULTIPLAYER in games like fallout 3 and oblivion would be just plain awful, now CO-OP is a different kettle of fish all together...

Mass Effect and other RPG's.

Stealth games.
I dunno, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker made for a good online stealth co-op, if you actually worked with somebody you knew well and therefore could make plans and discuss each mission instead of joining a random game with a stranger

A vs. or death match would be very odd in games like final fantasy. On second thought FF:tactics has a multiplayer thing, although Ive never tried it, and I think a multiplayer in system like that would be a good thing if done right. I dont even see how god of war would even be possible in multiplayer.
Ive done that multiplayer its fun but like i said in my first post you get so over powered that nothing can kill you unless the person who your going against has less of a life then me :D
So they never had a level or rank filter to pit players evenly? Im sure that if square enix tried to make a direct sequel, they can give the mp another shot and try perfecting it, but it seems theyre never going to bother. Which is sad, cause that was a good story and had alot more potential.

Actually, a good mp idea would be parasite eve. The second game had a strange battle system compared to rpgs and would actually work well in a vs and co op aspect. I cant think of many other bad ones, as most are already mentioned.

Just imagine a multiplayer of that...... abomination!
Uhhh...hate to tell you this, but it does have multiplayer. I've played it. It's actually WORSE than the core game, to the point where it's barely playable.

On Topic: Metroid games. It wouldn't make any sense, and at best it would just be a tacked on little diversion to draw attention away from the fact that the core game you came up with isn't really that fun to play...hmm? They did that with Metroid Prime 2 you say? Huh, well so much for that comment then.

Well fine, there shouldn't be multiplayer in Mario games(and by Mario games I mean the ones where he's running from Point A to Point B jumping about, no racing or partying or anything). There was multiplayer in Super Mario Bros on the NES, which basically amounted to passing a controller back and forth. It didn't really work, as people usually went and just passed the controller back and forth to save themselves the bother of having two controllers plugged in. Yet for some reason, Nintendo is really REALLY trying to bring multiplayer back into Mario games, like New Super Mario Bros Wii, in which they actually made the multiplayer worse by making it nearly impossible to progress as soon as more players are on screen, because everyone is just too busy trying to avoid each others lethal head-jumps to finish the stage.

Mass Effect 3 should have a multiplayer. It does fit. Though, instead of co-op, I'm thinking maybe they should do normal competitive-type multiplayer gameplay, Shepard v Shepard, or make your own character, with multiplayer-unique abilities, leveling up as you play.

Assassins' Creed Brotherhood: COME ON! 'Whodunnit' scenarios! Think about it!

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (I think Oddysse did too) shouldn't have, it was really awkward. Horror games, I totally agree on. Remember Resident Evil: Outbreak 1+2? Silent Hill, definitely. Dragon Age, meh.

Well, you don't have to play it, so as long as they half ass it and barely spend any money on it the rest of the game won't be affected...

That said, Heavy Rain. It just wouldn't make sense.
Actually Heavy Rain would have great potential as a multiplayer game. You play one of the four characters and three other blokes play the other characters (of course it would have to be a little bit reconfigured).

I think that every game could have multiplayer in some way, but it shouldn't be just death match and etc. For example a RPG (for example Mass Effect) where one of the persons play the main character and the other persons play companions, and the companions could choose if they like or dislike the main characters actions.

I have to speak out and say that Resident Evil 5 was a decent game until they launched the multiplayer that was already on the disk. You just had to pay to unlock it. In addition to this the 2v2 "multiplayer" was just awful! I refused to buy it despite my roommate asking me to.

On the other hand, I have to say that despite Assassins Creed's wonderful single player experience, Brotherhood could result in me changing my mind. I think if it is done correctly, I would not mind it. However, I feel that the game did not need it at all.

Multiplayer in Mass Effect 3? No, No, and No.

If you want to create a spin-off set in the same universe, like Halo Wars, fine. But don't screw with the main series.

Obscure is a perfect example of multiplayer horror working.

I'd say any game with time slowing effects - Timeshift, Stranglehold, FEAR.
