Games That Will Make You Camp Outside The Store.

FFVII remake for PS3 (if and when it happens, emphasis on IF). Cause the bottom line is that all the great games I clamor for sequels for (Beyond Good and Evil, Soul Nomad [engine sequel, at least] Eternal Darkness) will be games that will have little fanfare and I will be able to casually go into a store an hour after they open and get my pre-ordered copy. Big title games generally don't appeal to me enough to NEED to have it any time before a month after it comes out. Gears of War 2, Halo 3, MGS4, GTA4, all great games, don't get me wrong, I can just wait until the hype dies a little and I can enjoy a game at my own pace at my own standard of play in the middle of January.

FFVII though...well...it's one of my favorite games ever made, all BS/griping/fanboy/girlism and slack that so-called "hardcore" gamers give it just fades when I think about the amazing story, gameplay, characters, immersion plus a complex and funny personal history with the game, including several friendships. I would camp out, not necessarily because I would want to, but because I know I would have to in order to GUARANTEE I get it on the first day.

Disclaimer though, the only time I've ever camped out for a video game related item was a Wii for only about 9 hours when they first came out.

If any game would get me to wake up that early, it'd be Gears of War 2. I do live in a heavily-infested gamer area, so I'll probably end up being in a line at 4:00 a.m.

No game is worth me waiting outside a store all night and freezing my arse off when I can just wait a few days to get it when the store is not packed to the shitter.

I would consider doing it for Shin Megami Tensei 4, but since the games are niche here they would never have a midnight opening, maybe if I lived in Japan. But I doubt I'd ever go through with it, too much of a bother.

Like when the Wii's successor comes out next-gen, I'm pretty much going to have to camp unless I have to hunt for that waggle-box for 6 more months.

EDIT: I arrived an hour early for GTA 4 and was in the first group of 3 for PS3, even though the lines were even. I guess we procrastinate.

I would never camp outside the store. 95% of my game purchases these days come via direct-download services and the remaining 5% I am perfectly content to wait a week or two for or to order off of Amazon and have delivered right to my door.

Here's an idea put in a pre - order than pick it up when it's in.

That's what I do, and it got me a copy of Halo 3 on the same day as a camper, so there's no real need.
