I need to push BioShock and I'm going to sell it to your right now.

First off it all takes place in an underwater in 1950's city that's all fucked up and partially abandoned. And it's full of crack addicts...with super powers. The main protagonist is a genetically modified super soldier type project...with superpowers. And the antagonist is a stern and ruthless buisnessman...with superpowers.

Now honestly would you not go see that movie

Oh crap, I misread the OP.I thought MOVIES that would make good GAMES.Because Equilibrium could be a killer Video Game.
But thinking about it, you could make pretty awesome Movies out of the first two Onimusha games.Think about it they are pretty short, take place in a rather small area and have a lot of awesome characters and Demons that could easily be used in a Movie. You wouldn't even have to change the story that much.I's fleshed out enough that you don't need add any really big plot points but again it's short and compact enough that you wouldn't have to cut anything important.
And the main Characters ARE Japanese actors(and Jean Reno in third one) .You wouldn't have to cast someone resembling them, you could just use the actors that the Game Models are based on.

Valve have said they were intrested in a TF2 mini series/movie.

But L4D is actually a great candidate. Why? Its because the devs designed it to be movie like.

That and its Zombies.

Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Half-Life Episode One and Two, and the first FEAR would all make excellent or at least good films IF THEY ARE DONE PROPERLY.

I say the first FEAR because the second FEAR sucked balls.

A Warcraft III film would be good as well. And then a sequel based on its expansion. Both films should depict the viewpoints and perspectives of more than just one character. THat being said, if the films follow the perspective of just one person, it should be Arthas, from his beginnings in WC3:ROC as a young Paladin fighting the Blackrock Orcs to a vengeful warrior who gets his friend killed in the north while pursuing Mal'Ganis to a powerful Death Knight as in WC3:TFT who journeys to the Lich King as fast as possible in order to fight the Burning Legion's own forces led by Illidan. The films should be unchanged from the games in terms of plot/storyline. Also, it should be made absolutely clear over time who the Lich King was (including flashbacks to the Second War during the sequence where Kel'Thuzad explains to Arthas everything he knows about the Lich King) as well as what his objectives are and how he's very carefully manipulating the Third War so that the Burning Legion loses. I actually find that very epic, how the leader of the undead manipulates things so that the demons end up losing the entire war.

Lets pretend that Uwe Boll is sequestered and secured somewhere, and that the hurdle of having a good screenplay writer is solved and both, director and writer, are outstandingly resplendent (which would almost ensure a good film out of any subject),then a small fragment of the answers would be:

Fallout

Torment

American McGee's: Alice (maybe even in animation like Gaiman's Coraline)

The Longest Journey (both)

Sam & Max

Vampire: The Masquerade

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Warhammer 40,000

Mechwarrior

Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

L4D

Then there is The Wticher; Psychonauts; Beyond Good & Evil; Half-Life; any Star Wars game would be better than all of the last 3 calamities together; Baldur's Gate and most other things from Black Isle, and probably Rage from id Studio.
Really, and a myriad more games, with special poignancy the ones that were story centric or divinely funny.

Make it an arthouse / indie sort of thing...

No, seriously, IF this were a world in which 'game to movie'-projects could result in something good...
I'd have to go for Twisted Metal: Black

Hell yeah!

Good ol' fashion dark 'n bloody rampaging. You got the characters, the stories, the vehicles and the atmosphere. Sure, it'll need tuning, getting the story movie-like, but it could totally work. Making it a crash 'n trash fest with a decent plot. Oh, and a soundtrack containing The Rolling Stones' 'Paint It Black' of course.

Also, The Darkness, but of course, that would be a comic-to-movie, not a game-to-movie...
(by the way, I've heard rumours about it)

Im not saying use the story of bioshock completely but rather the atmosphere and placement.

Rapture has plenty of angle play off of from the pre lockdown to after the events of the first game.
