Games that would make great movies (and vice versa)

Perhaps Red Dead Redemption would make a good movie, provided they speed up certain bits.

Edit: I think Mask of the Betrayer would make a good story, but it would require a ton of background knowledge before going into the film.

Screen Gems recently got the rights to a Devil May Cry movie(Ten dollars says they fuck it up).

I would personally love to see a Devil May Cry movie, not for fan service, but just because of the fact that the games have always featured stylish action with loads of adrenaline injected into the heart of it.

I might be fine with this if it were a CGI flick.

Metal Gear Solid could make a good movie if done right. And I think Hero would make a pretty fun game.

Ninja Gaiden either one (x-box) or II (360) would make a pretty decent popcorn flick. And a Max Payne movie that actually follows the game storyline (I didn't see the Max Payne movie, but heard it sucked something fierce) would be awesome.

I would love to see "Secret of Mana" as an epic fantasy movie along the lines of Krull, Legend, or Never Ending Story.
Alternatively, I think Krull, or any of those others would make interesting video games.

I would really like In the Mouth of Madness as a video game and a Shadowrun (SNES version) movie though.

It's a difficult one, rather than going for my favourite games I'm trying to think of what would transfer well when you ripped the interactivity out of it, along with the potential for other storylines and not just tieing together cutscenes.

With that in mind, Dragon Age would probably do well. Darksiders would also be pretty sweet, spesh with rumours that there will be a Darksiders movie and comic book. You could probably do something about factions from any bethesda game too, like Fallout: Rise of the Brotherhood or something along those lines.

I think the Mass Effect series would be quite good, i would pay to see that. Assassins creed would be pretty awesome too and without sounding too mainstream i think a Halo movie (if done right) would be good

question: why is it always turning games into movies? beacuse from what i've seen one of the main problems with it is the fact that you're trying to squeeze at least 6 hours of interactive story telling and all the exposition on the characters, motivations and locations into a 2 hour film, wouldn't doing a tv series work better for something like that?

thats said i'd like to see syphon filter 1 through to 3 done as a series, same for one of the armored core games

None. There's a reason it's never been done well. And it doesn't all have to do with Uwe Boll. I just don't think it can ever work.
