I sit here, feeling like there is nothing to play, sifting through my Steam library, and I stumble across a bunch of games that I really want to get into, but for whatever reason I cant bring myself to play. Is there anything you want to play, but just can't be bothered to?

The Witcher 2: I hear that it is one of the best RPGs out there, and I see all of the hype for The Witcher 3, but whenever I try to play it, I start it, do the tutorial, then decide that I want to play something else. It just seems like when I play it, I think to myself that it probably has such a deep storyline and large learning curve that I really need to dedicate a lot of time to it, so I immediately quit and never go back to it. The spell names without tool tips don't help either.

Baldur's Gate: Same as above. I can remember playing it when I was younger, but much like The Witcher, I cant seem to want to dedicate myself to the amount of time that I will need to play it.

Knights of the Old Republic 2: I finished the first one, excitedly started the second game, got through the space station at the beginning, found the Ebon Hawk, then dropped it. That was about August last year, and I have not even touched it since.

Time for me to talk about Dark Souls... again. I want to like Dark Souls, I really do. It seems like quite the fun game. I've now bought it twice, once for PS3 and again for PC. The PS3 version lasted about four days. I played as five different classes before finally landing on the simple Warrior. As soon as I reached the main base, I made my up some stairs only to be attacked by three skeletons, one of which that had a firebomb. After dying there about twenty times, I was done.

I decided to give it another go on the PC, bought it on the summer sale for only five bucks. This version started off terrible as GFWL is an annoying *****. So I couldn't save. I decided to play a little and see if maybe I could enjoy it enough to download GFWL. I picked warrior and this time went left out of the starting area. I did some scavenging only to be ambushed by two skeletons in a graveyard that completely bum-raped me. After dying there another five times, I called it quits. I uninstalled and haven't touched it since.

I really want to enjoy Dark Souls, I really do. But the trial and error part just gets to me. Our personalities just clash. Who knows? I may give it another go sometime in the future.[footnote]And please don't try and give me tips, I've already heard all of them[/footnote]

Oh Dark Souls. Yeah, I have a love-hate relationship with it too. I got to the Undead Burg, slaughtered every skeleton that I could find, got real good at it too, then the Black Knight (or whatever he is called) happened. I want that chest so bad, cant for the life of me deal with him though. And that boss behind him is even worse. I must've died about 40 times around there.

It is deleted now.

X3 Terran conflict. It looks fun but it is difficult as hell. I would like to know how to play this game since it looks like something I would enjoy.

Dark Souls and Revengeance. I'm constantly lost in the first in addition to dying to bosses (even Taurus Demon). As for Revengeance... fuck those UGs you have to parry, I'm absolutely worst in the world when it comes to parrying in that game.

There are Three games so far.

First is Dwarfs fortress, I really want to get into this game. But I command my character to dig a mountain. (I follow the youtube video step by step, but the command they give works on the video, but not on my screen. I think it's a different verision? Probably not) Maybe when the time comes I will go back to it someday

Second is Spelunky (the original), I cannot steal that shotgun (Once again, follow the video per instruction, this time I think it has to do with the fact that it's a free version. But I could be wrong) Either way, I give up on it. I'm probably gonna buy the HD version instead anyway, since I really enjoy the gameplay. (And hopefully I can do steal that shotgun exactly like in the video)

But the game I really want to get into, more than the two games mentioned above, is EA's Batttlefield 4 (also probably New World's Interactive's Insurgency)

Feel it comin' in the air
But the hype is everywhere
I'm addicted to the thrill
It's a dangerous love affair
Can't be surprised when it's incomplete
Got so many bugs, tell me now
Only thing that's on my mind
Will DICE gonna fix this game tonight...
Will DICE gonna fix this game tonight...
They will fix it tonight

Jayz/Kayne raps random crap, and at that point, DICE fixes the game so it's alot more playable... But

PC's game is awesome but it's not fair
Framerate dropping everywhere
I will keep doin' pc thing
Walkin' tall against the (screen) tear
First Kill is within my reach
But my screen tears again, I missed horribly, and the guy turned around and injected my chest with tons of bullets
I'm gonna upgrade just to play this
Hey-hey-hey-hey-hey-hey
Hey-hey-hey-hey-hey
Hey-hey-hey-hey-hey-hey
(Is my laptop melting tonight)
Hey-hey-hey-hey
(My laptop smells burned tonight)

I spend way too much time writing this, btw

I really want to go into Fallout 1 and 2, but I'm just not motivated enough to playing them. Once I get through Final Fantasy 7, and Half Life 1, then I'll try again.

Tales of Xilia is a game I've been meaning to play for a long time now, but for some reason I can't get into the mood. Maybe it's the slow beginning story but once I start, walk around and talk to NPCs for a bit I get bored, save and stash it away again. Here's hoping I get further into it eventually.....

I have quite a few games for which I'm in this situation but I'd say the one that fits the topic best in my case would be Lord of the Rings Online. I bought it a few months after launch, was subscribed for a month or two, then dropped it. When the first expansion came out (Mines of Moria), I bought it and played for a month only to drop the game again. Then the next mini-expansion was released (Mirkwood) and guess what happened.

I've been trying to get into the game again about 2-3 times every year since the F2P transition. I always play for about a week then drop out of it. I'm not really sure why. I want to play it and enjoy it, but it just doesn't click.

The Souls games in general. I love them, I'm just too much of a scrub to be able to make progress in them. Also I get too easily distracted to put in enough time to get good. But that's just me. I don't blame you Souls.

Also just major strategy games. I love them, but I'm just not smart enough to get good at them, and I lose interest. I'm surprised that I actually beat S2 WoL campaign.

Mark another one up for Dark Souls. I've gotten as far as the painted world of whoever before I just got too frustrated to go on. I think it's all the walking that does it; the more times I have to trek through the same scenery and fight the same enemies, the more I ruminate on the many little annoyances that plague the adventure and after a while they build up and I'm just too pissed off at the game to have any fun. WHY CAN ENEMIES ATTACK THROUGH EACH OTHER??? THAT'S LAZY!

Worst part is, based on the stories I'm hearing from other people I'm actually doing better than most. I really don't understand how anyone can have the patience to keep trying the same boss fight upwards of 40 times, because after about 10 I'm usually fed up with it.

Really liked Dark Souls II though.

Also, Don't Starve. I hear the game hasn't even started until you've gotten through a couple winters but I think my current record is 20 days before I starved to death. Maybe it's time I consulted the wiki.

I have a problem slightly different, but pretty much that. I start a game, and even if I enjoy it while playing, I'll still lack the motivation to pick it back up. Games like that include

KOTOR
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Half Life
Just Cause 2
Spelunky
Sleeping Dogs
The Void
Recettear
Y's

And that's just from my Steam library. Granted, there's no guarantee they'll stay forever (I eventually got around to finishing Fallout: New Vegas and some others), but there you are.

For me, it's Adventure Mode. I've gotten to the point where I can survive winter just fine (if you're in the base game, it's mainly a matter of living near rabbit holes, having a large supply of fuel, and building a lot of drying racks and crock pots), but Adventure Mode is just a whole other beast altogether. I don't think I've managed to finish a single map in that mode, so far...

Also, with the Reign of Giants DLC, summer is the new winter. In fact, I haven't even seen it, yet. Spring, with its constant rainfall, permanently in-heat beefalo, and lack of rabbits, is kicking my ass.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
The start of the game is so unbelievably dull and tedious that all my attempts to get into it have failed. However, I have recently heard that Morrowind only gets good much after that fact, and that your character gets good enough at fighting to not run out of magicka after only taking a single enemy's health bar down half-way, or is able to swing their weapon and not miss a perfectly still target 9 out of 10 times, so I might try and force myself to power through it and try again. Either that or I'll just wait for Skywind to get done.

Holy crap, good luck with that. I put a combined 80+ hours into X3:Reunion, Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude, and I was still nowhere near the end game stuff. Ultimately I gave up because it was just too much grinding.

OT: I've still not got more than half way through the first Mass Effect game. I've got 2 and 3 sitting in my games library, but I don't know when I'll have the time to devote to playing through them all.

Alpha Protocol. I've started playing it several times, hear it gets really good and for some reason haven't made it through the first real mission. It doesn't help that RPG's always take a long time to play.

Final Fantasy 9 and 10. I picked up both recently on sale, never played either and heard both were great in their own way. I also picked up the "upgraded" 3(played the original version a decade ago). The problem is, yet again, JRPG's take me about 40 hours to finish(and I'm not even going for 100% completion).

Started Just Cause 2 years ago and still haven't gotten through a full playthrough. The retarded weapons delivery system has a lot to do with this, I think. It's wierd because I blew through Saints Row 2-4 like there was no tomorrow.

Started GTA: San Andreas, got to San Fierro and stopped. Don't know why but never did get back to it.

Started Dragon Age: Origins twice. Last time I played it was 3 years ago. Finished the mage tower/the fade so I could complete the zombie quest. Really need to finish the game.

Time to be really unpopular - I have been unable to get into Bioshock Infinite. I have tried twice, with both attempts ending the same way.

I have no doubt the story is excellent, however the gameplay........oh the gameplay.

The shooting (to me) feels generic. There is no enjoyment with how the weapons look and sound. I can't get past that. Plus I also feel the game is too slow (yes I know all Bioshocks are that way).

There is something about it that doesn't feel like Bioshock - I enjoyed the first one but didn't play the second (all the rage turned me off it). I just can't put my finger on it.

As Jim Sterling would say: I am jealous if you enjoy it. There is just something about it that I don't like.

Plenty of fightings games fit that description for me. I would love to get into Street Fighter, UMvC3, or Moral Kombat, but for some reason, once I hit the first tough parts of the learning curve, I lose interest and go back to something like Smash Bros. or BlazBlue, which for me never had that serious learning curve.

I know some would disagree with me, but I didn't find it particularly deep. The game does a few interesting things with choice, is darker and more mature than most games (though, given how it's all presented, I don't really say that as a compliment), has some of the best graphical fidelity around, and honestly is better written than most mainstream games. However, I wouldn't call it deep.

On Easy and Normal, the combat has almost no learning curve, despite how (poorly) the tutorial presents it all. The prologue is semi-difficult, and Chapter 1 does offer some difficulty in earning enough money to buy books that give massive damage bonuses to different creatures, but once you get those damage bonuses, even most of Normal is incredibly easy. There's maybe one boss that let's you see the potential depth offered in the combat system, but you'll need to go to higher difficulties to really see it throughout most of the game. Needless to say, it is nowhere near the level of Dark Souls if you stick to lower difficulties.

And as for the story, it's very straightforward, and the lore is very shallow. Maybe it will seem deeper to someone who didn't play the first game, but even compared to other RPGs, the world and lore just seemed to come across as a second thought. Again, I doubt it will require any massive time investment to understand what is going on.
