I'm playing Cryostasis currently, and I must say, it's one of my favorites. Think it has a 69 on Metacritic. I guess no one told them that it's not an FPS.

The Last Remnant was a good game, well at least the gameplay and story were good. However it was unfortunately "torn a new one" for its less than satisfactory frame rate as well as other issues involving difficulty

F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate, Assassins Creed, Tom Clancy's Hawx, Stalker: Shadow of Chenobyl. Some of my favourite games from the last four years.

I can't remember if this was destroyed by critics or not but, I picked it up in a sales bin at EB Games. Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, it remains to this day one of my favorite games of all time. I also liked Shenmue. Not sure if it got raped by critics, but people already forgot about this game.

Turok was fun for me.
Sure people hated it, but the ability to kill dinosaurs with your knife and pin people to the wall with your bow was awesome.
Also it's my first (and so far the only) console FPS.
Most gamers had the original Turoks to fulfill those needs. The new one is just bad compared to modern day FPS.

Gotcha Force on the Game Cube. It had the whole trying to collect all the playable little robots like pokemon, which (other than the few very occasional clones characters) were all really different. But instead of just sending them to fight with menus and orders you got to do it yourself, jumping around and shooting lasers at tiny robot knights and ninjas. It was cheesy at times (voice overs were bad dubs but funny) but I can still happily start over trying to get all my favourite ones. Critics mostly attacked it for a bad camera, which I never understood since even when the camera very occasionally did get temporarily stuck in the level geometry it just made it kinda see through. Reviewers astound me sometimes.

I love all of the movie based spider-man games. The first one was pretty well received, and the second was considered the best, but the third was panned more than an amputee albino at the playboy mansion. I don't know why spider-man 3 was so harshly received. It had everything that made spiderman 2 good, but on a bigger scale!

And the spider-man 1 mini games where you could play bowling with the bad guys was classic!
