Any game where you can swim... before you know whether there is or isnt enemies swimming around under the water.

I found Morrowind to be the most guilty of this... first it was the fish and then the bigger fish but then... oh god... oh god!

Ravenholm in HL 2.

Also, the ashamed one is from Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.
I feckin hated the mine monsters in around the third level or so.
Mostly because it was very dark, and my stupid flashlight binoculars kept running out of batteries.

I'm just afraid of sharks, I remember the game Scarface I was swimming in the water after I went off a ramp the wrong way and a shark ate me. This was a good number of years ago and was so sudden and scary I had to pause the game to catch my breath.

It's the poison headcrabs that do it for me and the screaming zombies. Both of those scared me and the problem was it wasn't just in Ravenholm, especially this abandoned house along the highway. I was walking through it, saw a room, went towards the door and a zombie with poison headcrabs walks out. I must've fired 3 grenades at him just out of fear.

Abe's Odyssey, the entire planet is a meat factory inhabited by green things with tentacles for mouths and you find out they are going to butcher and eat the entire workforce. And the scariest part? They're doing it for money.
this. I got this game when I was 6 on ps1 and it scared the hell out of me, same for abe's exoddus. those games are some of the most heart pumping experiences of my whole life

also I remember being scared by the descriptions of the dreams you have in oblivion whilst in the process of becoming a vampire, those things are horrific.

Dead Space didn't get me too bad the first time around. There was the occasional gasp and jump. But the second time, it was the expectation that killed me. Then I got to Chapter 5. That chapter. I just couldn't take it chasing you, I almost wet myself, quite literally. I turned off the game and haven't played since.
I couldn't stand that on the first playthough. Actually, I'm playing it right now on my first playthrough. I haven't beaten yet because of that level. There were times when I thought to myself, "I want to play Dead Space," and then I remembered that I was on the level with that... so I played something else.

Well, you just might enjoy this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.124522#2566314] wall of text. Wait, actually if you read it, don't post in it. I don't want to get in trouble for necroing, I just thought that you might enjoy that thing I wrote.

Abe's Oddsyee freaked the crap outta me when I was a kid.. It still has this overly creepy vibe but I play it on occasion. Also Earthbound still freaks the crap outta me. It's the music you get when you enter caves... oh and giant blood red fetus face doesn't help much either.

Probably the part of Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines with all the Tzimisce creations, and when you get that one power up in Bioshock from the foggy dentist office. When that doctor popped up behind me I yelled Jesus, then proceeded to unload a shotgun in his face.

I got two.

In the old sonic games when your underwater for too long, and it starts playing the music. Oh, God I was panicking.

Also in SW: Shadows of the Empire if you lost all your lives the Prince's face would show up on the screen. His face would scared the shit out of me.

I've become quite a horror survival fan now but in the past I got quite a few scares from Zelda Ocarina of Time.

You first start out in a peaceful village with nice up beat music and friendly neighbours, then you encounter your first monster when you go to the deku tree and the music changes from peaceful to sinister which made the scene very scary for me the first time.

Also when you first meet those zombies that paralyse you through their stare and you hear that scream when it takes effect scared me as well.

I have played a lot of Silent Hill and Resident Evil which doesn't scare me (at least not that much) and yet the memory of playing Ocarina of Time and even now I still find that game to still be scary at times like when you go to that mountain trail leading to all the Gorons and you go into first person view and look up to find a falling jumper spider about to land on you.

P.S. As a side note I got the crap scared out of me when I first played Dead Space at a time when I was just getting into horror survival games.

Half-Life 2: Ravenholm. It took me like two weeks to complete that level (as opposed to a day each of the other ones), because I was freaked out and moved really slowly and cautiously.

Condemmed, the bit with the bloody shopping centre mannequins being alive and stuff, can't play that bit! That bit in SH (can't remember which one) where the mannequin's head gets decapitated with a scream. Dementium, chapter 3 (i think) with the children's ward.

To be honest, anything with creepy children or dolls is just a no-no. Give me hordes of zombies or whatever instead.

The part on the darkness when your stuck i hell in dont know why but its just so eery and immersive i finally feel myself getting into the game and a group of undead nazis with sawn up faces appear screaming at me. All i end up saying is "WHY ME?!!!?" i find myself wanting to trade the game in but i also want to complete the game as it isnt a bad game it's just that level deters me completely.
