Ahhh, my bad. I was thinking about the Doom I had been playing, which is actually Brutal Doom. Regardless, jumping feels good in Doom (even if it is useless). Actually, I don't even know if Brutal Doom has jumping, but I remember it like it does...haha.

Also, Halo 1-3 have jumping, and I would consider them better than Goldeneye. Especially after playing Goldeneye: Source, the game has just aged badly.

I wouldn't really worry about a rabid fanbase. I'm not against FF13, but alot of people are. I ramble on about FF8, but it has fans as well. It's weird.
I love both of those, now, XII, that's the one I disliked. It felt like a dumbed down XI without the challenge or online interactions that made it fun. Specifically on VIII, it's my fav one of the lot. It may be that it's the most animelike one storywise, since I always loved anime. I just think it upped the coolness of everything that was already good in VII a few notches and the supporting cast of chars was all much more interesting. That space scene...the Laguna flashbacks...all so good. People overfocus on a few unimportant plot details like the memory stuff but as you play the game those don't actually matter much. It's a character driven story. And yeah sure you can break it if you spend too much time drawing spells to the point that it kills the pacing of the story, so don't do that lol.

Well, I understand your feelings on the matter, but as if I may reference some educational material on the art of Drawing spells...

This is what we're doing instead of fighting and killing enemies for EXP and AP. Not fun. Not fun at all. Yes, there's ways around that, and they are not fun. Not fun at all. I play the previous game with Cloud and them, the previous Previous game with Terra and Locke and company, and the POST game with Zidane and crew...and I enjoy the battles. The grind did not feel grindy. I was having fun. Drawing is not fun. Drawing breaks flow. Also, I mentioned that I cheated to win (second time around) to avoid this and I still wasn't having fun. Sorry.

Not having fun with the gameplay is understandable, hell even on XIII people complain that all you had to do was use autobattle to win when you're supposed to aim for high star rankings and not just survive battles so different strokes for different folks is my view. All FFs tend to be too easy and without needing much in the way of strategy so to me what makes a good battle system is how well it blends into the story. I don't look for gameplay depth, that's what I play fighting games for, rather, I seek gameplay that enhances the narrative. At least you can't 1shot bosses 20 hours in the game through natural play without lookin up a guide, which I did by chaining quickenings in FFXII on my first playthrough without reading any guides or even trying to break it. When I went back to beat that game I had to completely limit my usage of quickenings to feel even a tiny bit of challenge. As for it feeling grindy or not, it depends on how you play I guess. I always like feeling underpowered and I value story pacing over power so I would just buy spells to junction and fight the natural number of enemies that apper as you travel from plot point to plot point without drawing beyond the first time I sw a new enemy or grining at all. It never felt grindy and I was too caught up in the cool story and events to be bored of anything.

Brutal Doom is cored around GZdoom, so yea, it has jumping.
