I would say final fantasy x-2, but X was kinda the game that started a downhill thing with final fantasy.
I cannot really name any direct sequels to great games that sullied their reputation, but if we go later titles I will mention Shadowhearts 3, the later tony hawks games, and SONIC, there's not a 3D game with him that I don't think reuins the good old 2D-ones.

Why, exactly? You said in a thread that's title is "reputation of the original", so you obviously don't hate the first one, but what's so bad about the second one?
Imagine a glass of delicious milk, that's Kingdom Hearts. Now imagine if someone poured the milk on to your face and then gave you the empty glass, that's Kingdom Hearts 2.
That actually kind of makes sense...but still, I love them both (also, 358/2 Days, it's awesome).

Well I don't know if either of these really had a reputation: Personally, I loved SaGa Frontier but SaGa Frontier 2 was terrible. (I know SaGa Frontier wasn't the first of the series either.)

Edit: Fixed

How did you not like KH2 let alone think it ruined KH1? It was one of the only sequels that really upgraded the game while keeping the features that made the origional great. plus it gave you reaction commands that actually made sence wasn't a wanker like Rezie's. and you got to actually see people talk about stuff instead of seeing their lips move.

I for one can't wait for KH3 to come out

Skate 2. Where the first installment succeeded at being totally different from the Tony Hawk's series, Skate 2 did away with the realism, flick-it controls (every new move is just a button combination a la Tony Hawk's) and replaced it with the meager milking of an established franchise.

Bionic Commando (2009).

Seriously, play the original. Simplistic, smooth and fun. And it was mapped to TWO BUTTONS AND A DIRECTIONAL PAD!

It's a complete 360 from the ideology of the original two games.
It spun completely around back to where it originally started?

I bet when you saw that had happened you looked at your xbox, turned 360 degrees and walked away...
