Demon's Souls is the game that I've been playing on and off since I bought it last year. Once a week or so I load it up and progress a bit on whatever NG I am at. I think that the main thing that keeps drawing me to it is its very unique, extremely gloomy atmosphere. It's like reading one of Lovecraft's novels, it never gets old or loses its dark, mouldy feeling.
hey i thought going to ryell would be fun you can meet cthullu
Well, The Old One from Demon's Souls IS Cthulu, it's not like the developers tried too hard to hide the similarities :p

I can't say i've ever tried either of those games tbh, Might give them a try though

The old Baldur's Gate games are pure gold. I never got too deep into IWD (tinkered with character gen) to say much about it though.

I still find myself un-saran-wrappiung my SNES to play Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III(6) every few months after decades since their releases. Oh, and Tetris. LOVE me some oldschool NES Tetris.

You have awesome taste. I have to wonder why not Neverwinter Nights I and II though. They're pretty similar.
Those certainly are good as well, but for some reason, I like BG and ID better.

Castlevania IV is the same way with me. I love the series to death, and IV is still one of my top 3 favorites, but there's nothing particularly great about it when you really get down to it. I think it's more just the freedom of the whip controls, and the fun extras, like how it's the only one that lets you use the whip to swing around on some things.

Or maybe it's just the Mode 7 playing tricks on my mind, and making it seem more fun than it really is.

I loved road rash. It was clunky, pixelated and had a really odd perspective, but daaaaaym, was it fun.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, the graphics are pretty bad for a Gamecube game, the camera's pretty jumpy when you're going along anywhere that is not the route to the goal, and some of the harder missions are controller-breakingly annoying.

Yet I think it's the best Sonic game out there, if you disagree then shoot me.

Saint's Row 2.

If I have had a very hard day, i will load it up and drive over people for an hour and then I will feel better.

By the time I have 5 cop stars and 5 gang stars and literally the entire city is tripping over itself trying to kill me, I will have forgotten it has even been a hard day.

Fire Emblem: the Sacred Stones. I hate JRPG's with few exceptions but this game is still my favorite GBA game to date for some reason.

Some games just have something special about them that I can't explain:

Shadow Blasters (one of the most mediocre Genesis games that I can't help but replaying from time to time).

Code Name Viper for the NES (It's a carbon copy of Rolling Thunder, but I like it about ten times better than RT); on the other hand, I love Rolling Thunder 2 for the Genesis with a passion, and don't like the third game that much.

Thunder Force 3 for the Genesis - I can't explain why it's so much better than all the other side-scrolling Shmups of the same time, but it is; maybe it's because it was my first Genesis game...

And of course, there is a game (or rather a series of games) which I could go on for hours and hours explaining why it's so much better than similar ones, but which still falls into the scope of this thread because not too many people share my opinion: Gothic (especially the second one). Wandering those beautiful landscapes and finding interesting things to do in every nook and cranny took away many hours of my life, and I still think it was not enough. Someday I'll have to post a review and shut up about that game already...

Agreed. I have so many good memories of that game... playing co-op with my brother, LANs with my mates, etc.

It's just special.
