I'll admit Sleeping Dogs is fun, for now, but these minigames in it are really starting to drag it down. I know most of them are optional, but somehow they still make the rest of the game boring just knowing that they are there for me. The game really would be better off without them. So give me yours.

I'm going to go for the most low-hanging fruit here by mentioning the tower defense games of the last Assassin's Creed. They were brutally hard and extremely irrelevant to the rest of the game.

Literally the only reason I haven't finished Uncharted: Golden Abyss is because of these stupid fucking 'rub the dirt off' and 'put together the map' puzzles.

No more heroes get's my vote . The game is fun , the grinding for money , not so much .

I kinda liked the 8-bit game thinggys in NMH2 though.

The hacking in Bioshock. It felt somewhat irrelevant to me. I guess it wasn't ALL that bad though...

As much as I love the Fallout 3/New Vegas games computer hacking really is quite stupid and non-fun. Word games irritate the shit out of me.

Fallout 3/New Vegas - Lockpicking/Hacking
Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Tower defense
Skyrim - Lockpicking
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Dispelling
Sleeping Dogs - Karaoke
Mass Effect 2 - Planet Scanning

I'm sure I have plenty more, but I can't be bothered to recall all of them right now.

Final Fantasy 9. That god damned card game. Wasn't good enough at it, didn't have the cards I needed to win, and you were required to win a tourney or whatever in order to progress in the game.

At least when I couldn't be bothered in FF8 there were ways to keep going regardless.

The hacking in Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Now don't get me wrong, its actually quite fun, and they managed to make it not wear you down like Bioshock's hacking system. But. This sucked a bit of the fun out of other parts in the game because hacking was everything in that game. You hack doors, safes, computers, alarms, security panels, etc., and it means that without hacking, you only get to see about half of what the game has to offer, which is a damn shame. I really wish they had at least kept lock-picking in from the original. It could have been a simple system, and it could have at least made some other options viable.

That Qwark vid-comic stuff from Ratchet and Clank three used to be hard as balls, but I recently played it and had a good time. Mary Kate and Ashely's Sweet Sixteen License to Drive had terrible minigames.

I honestly didn't mind the Tower Defense in AC Rev. It was really hard, kind of dumb, but not bad.
The Mediterrian Defense micro-management bullshit was the worst though. If you were going for completion like me, you'd end up spending more time on that than the actual game--Max out levels on all Assassins, and fill every city with assassins. It was worse that it was so needy, and wanted you to constantly maintain it.

I tried some of those Hidden Object Games a few years ago. Basically any HOGs that don't have a skip option on the puzzles.

This though I found FF8s card game to be far more annoying. Maybe it had to do with it being an annoying game and FF9 wasn't.
