Hey guys,
Within the next couple'a months, I'm gonna build a new gaming PC, and I was wondering.
Are there any games that are truly better on the PC? I know TF2 is, from reading forum posts, but I'm not sure. Also, could you give the specific reason it's better? (Gooder graphics is not an acceptable answer!)
Sorry, I really hate to be a grammar Nazi, but "gooder" sent chills through my spine, "better" is the word you're looking for :p

OT: Not sure if someone replied already, TF2's better on the PC due to constant free updates Valve does for the PC but not the consoles. The community is also apparently considerably more mature.

I'm afraid Batman : Arkham Asylum takes the "Worst Pc port ever" award.
Say what? Batman: AA had literally 0 port issues for me. GTA4 also pales when compared to Saint's Row 2, awful, horrible optimization. One of my top ones however, is Splinter Cell: Double Agent, my mind blew up into a million pieces and I had to throw away the game after the first level because of how bad it was... and I'm really into stealth games :(

Oh, oh, oh, and my WORST port of all time, I just remembered, was The Force Unleashed. Un-fucking-rivaled, takes not one, but all the cake and makes them a lie. I would need the worst elements of an elephant and a donkey to express how shit that port is.

All of them. Because Mouse and Keyboard will always be superior! Apart from GTAIV because that was the worst port in the world....
Just plug in a PC controller and its fine :)

*OT*

I prefer all games on PC, with the exception of some TPS games such as Dead Rising 2, and KAL2:DD.

Incidentally they are the only console games i own.

Almost anything by Bethesda due to their modding community, Dark Messiah was also significantly better on the PC than 360.

I'm not sure I understand the hate on GTA4's PC port. That works fine for me.

It's Saints Row 2's PC port that's awful and simply doesn't run at a great speed. I can run GTA4 on pretty much highest specs without trouble, but Saints Row 2 either is on highest with 800x600 resolution, or medium-low graphics at 2048x1152 resolution.

Say what? No it's not lol! It doesn't even run on my Gaming Rig properly. It consumes all of your system resources.

OT: I'd like to add Silent Hill 5 under the category of bad PC ports... ¬__¬

If you prefer mouse + keyboard for your FPSes, you'll obviously prefer PCs for your FPSes. Even if you prefer controllers, there's a few FPSes that are just flat better on PCs (e.g. Valve's games). RTSes also. Plus, TrackMania.

That was intentional. Also, it was meant to prevent people from saying "It's got goodergraphics and leaving

As I quite enjoyed it on the console, I'd be interested to hear why you thought it was better on the PC. I haven't played it on the PC mind, but I still think I'd prefer it on console.

I think Fallout 3 is the only game I own that I have played on both, and I have to say I prefer the PC version. I assume TF2 is also better on the PC, if only for the updates. I couldn't live without airblast =(.

I actually disagree about the dragon age origins being better on pc I personally feel the way it was set in the xbox 360 setting reflects more an actual view point where as the pc version you are basically elivated to god staring over the top of his characters looking out for the next dragon and I found the xbox 360 controls much easier compared to the pc stop motion choose ability system I like a game that flows not a game that stops and starts every five seconds into a fight.

better question would be what game has a better console version over PC, and i can not think of a single one
...
the only thing that even slight approaches this is maybe the force unleashed, and thats just because the controls lend themselves more towards the controller, hook up a controller to the PC, and PC wins

Well, I've never finished the mission in GTA: Vice City where you control a remote control helicopter and place charges around a building on the PC. The controls were horrific on the PC. I much preferred the PS2 version, although I am aware that people may disagree with my assessment that the PS2 version was better.

Damn it, I was literally JUST about to post this.

I can think of maybe...three games that had obnoxiously shitty PC ports (RE4, GTAIV, and Force Unleashed) but the rest blow the console versions out of the water. Not to mention that the PC can even play *some* console games.
Yay for Spyro the Dragon in 1080p at 60fps!

Every game ever made if you have access to a variety of different controllers. Joystick, wheel, pad, etc, etc.

However, if you're going for simple mouse and keyboard. The only games that work better on consoles are sports games (Fifa, etc), racing games (GRID, etc), JRPG's (the single player Final Fantasy games, etc).
Pretty much everything else is dominated by the mouse and keyboard.
