World of Warcraft, is a good example.... Just do this quest than that, no real main line of story.
So I take it you never learned how to read?

Tetris had a nonexistent story.
"Why are these blocks falling on me, and where the hell did they come from?!"

That sounds about right to me.
Actually I think it was more like "Hey lets steal a game from some poor guy in another country and market it without giving him a dime." I believe that was the underlying plot of Tetris.

lol, I can name a lot of the older games that are like that..
Bust-a-Move, Robo Pit, Rampage, others that I've forgotten

dude... WoW has a MASSIVE storyline....
hundreds of books full of lore, Warcraft 1, 2 and 3, random scraps of lore on sites etc

"World of Warcraft has no real line of story" is actually one of the most halariously wrong things I've ever heard in my life..

I agree. The story is pretty much as Yahtzee summarized it, "Here are some zombies"
Frankly though, it works. I love the game; not everything has to have a story. In fact, no story is generally preferable to shitty story.
definitely.

Serious Sam apparently has a story. Damned if I can figure out what it is. Something about aliens beating our asses in space, so we send Serious Sam back in time to beat the aliens on our planet in the past.

Not that it really matters.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Fun game, but what utter crap the story was. Vegas 1's story wasn't great, but it sufficed. It was a little intriguing, to say the least. Vegas 2's story, on the other hand, left me wondering if ramming nails up my nose would be less painful.

For me, there's no such thing. I always think up a story for a game even if there's already one. If there isn't one at all, the fun begins!

Mount&Blade, a game that knows the meaning of the word "sandbox". Also, the entire simulation genre, from city builders on up to really esoteric stuff like Train Simulator (which is far more fun than it sounds like.)

wait... what? yes there is. it just doesnt have anything to do with YOU. Maybe thats the confusion.

Man... I'm having trouble thinking of one. I'm gonna say.... Animal Crossing. It doesn't have a story, it is you living a life surrounded by various animals.

Apart from the fact that the story follows the greatest troopers as they play their part in a galaxy-wide war, then no, it has no story. Apart from obviously moving through scenarios on the movies, you'll see your squad develop with the gameplay as the story progresses.

Game that doesn't have a story? Modern Warfare 2. Technically, it has a story, in the same way soap operas (geddit, soap?) have a story. While it may be 'there', it doesn't count in the same way that grain of wheat, some strange and a baby cow don't count as delicious caek. As such, the story is a lie.
