Just Cause 2
im sorry i cannot comprehend this, you put Just Cause 2 as a boring game? a game where you can put tons of C4 onto a plane, fly said plane as high as possible, nose dive it into an army base while riding on the nose of it, jump off and parachute away while firing dual SMG's and land on a speeding truck to make your getaway is put down as a boring game? although i enjoyed the other 2 i can see why they would be boring
Sure that all SOUNDS exciting, but mechanically its just not that engaging. Although to be fair, I've put like ten hours into the game.

I have a strange relationship with city-building games (Tropico games, Anno games, etc.) and Civilization games - I love them, I love playing them, but after I've played them a bit, I get rapidly bored.

I can only play a Civ game once a year. After I finish a playthrough, I can't bear to start another one. Doesn't matter which Civ game it is and that one playthrough is tons of fun, I just can't do another one. The only exception to this was Alpha Centauri (I at least consider it a part of the Civ series) due to the widely different playstyles of the various factions.

City building games are a favourite of mine, loved them since the early Patrician games and SimCity. However, I can go through the build-up period only so many times before I can't stomach it anymore. A recent example would be Tropico 4 - I'm 2/3 through the campaign, I fire up the next mission and then realize I'm about to build a bunch of mines, then a clinic, then a church, then a high school, then some farms, then get USSR development aid, then build apartments, then a weapons factory, etc. etc. And I just did the same thing in the last 12 missions. So I get a bit fed up and shut the game off. You might say "try a different build", but in city building games there pretty much is only one build - EVERYTHING. You need almost every building to get the best city with the happiest people, not much room for deviation. And so the tedium sets in...

EDIT: Oh, and just so I can piss people off: I almost fell asleep 1/3 of the way through Modern Warfare 2 campaign. The spastic ADD action was so uninteresting and unengaging that the game managed to make a russian invasion of the US seem tedious. Also, Oblivion was as dull as watching pain dry AND wathing grass grow, all together.

Call of Duty MW2 and Black Ops...and WoW. I can't stand the multiplayer on any of them; so after the terribly short campaign I was done with them.

Also Homefront was boring.

Gran Turismo V. That game was actively trying to stop you race; ninety per cent of the events required one particular sort of car, so that you never used the same car twice, and that you never had the opportunity to pick and mod a car that you really liked. I fucking hated that, refused to do the specialised events, and then quit after the tedium of doing the same race over and over again got to me.

every single half life....i have never been able to like them. at all.

portal was..a push but i made it through, although i could've cared less for still alive and all the other quotes that are overused a million times online

bioshock, i restarted it 3 times because i was getting so bored with it each time, and every single time i got bored again and stopped around the same parts.

fallout 3 the game..i just did not like the "atmosphere" at all (which is odd considering i loved NV) and the main plot? you've gotta be kidding me, the literal ONE saving grace was liam neeson and he obviously is only there for half of the main plot.

there are probably a few more, but just not really caring to think right now.
I found Halo boring and you disagree with me. That is a fact.
erm...what?

when did i..

i don't remember ever quoting or replying to you? nor did i talk about halo in my post at all...
BECAUSE YOU ARE A TASTELESS CRETIN.
taste is subjective..but sorry? normally i'm pretty open minded about what i like but when a game puts me to sleep, it's pretty hard to say I like the game.
You silly man, don't you know that badmouthing Half Life and portal on this forum is essentially digging your own grave?
[But I'm with you]

Another game I found dull in the extreme was Dragon Age, it was just so formula to Bioware games that I know most of it before it happens. I'm a normal guy, now I'm fighting bad people [and since this is fantasy, the bad people are your Tolkienesque mix of enemies] now some Jedi show up, now I join them, now I'm the only one of them left, now I'm saving the world.
And now I'm asleep because this game sucks.

BioShock. Almost everything about the game is at the very least good, but actually playing the game is like pulling teeth.

EDIT: Oh and Oblivion.
Initially loved Oblivion, and then was dumbfounded asking myself if that's all there is. Unfortunately, while I was still in the learning curve, I recommended it a friend. He later asked me what the heck was wrong with my taste. He put it down too. I think what makes this a shocker is how well received the game was.

ITMT though, for me, Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube wins. I understand one does not HAVE to play this way, but once the option is there, it only makes sense to do so. FFX was one of my all time favorite RPGs, figuring out what I wanted a character to do on each turn in battle. In Symphonia, once you set up your characters, you sat back and watched them fight. To paraphrase Yahtzee, I thought, "boy, that sure looks fun. Wish I were playing."

I found GTA IV extremely uninteresting. Can't play it for more than 20 minutes without feeling bored to the bone.

Loved San Andreas though, one of my favorite games.
I keep trying to get back into GTA IV. I bought it, own it, I oughta give it more time as so many people love it (and I think Gamespot gave it GOTY and a freakin 10!) and yet, I really, really, really am bored by it. It's a chore.

The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. Not a game by itself, but a DLC for Borderlands. Good fucking God. The driving back and forth pissed me off to no end, and the payoff wasn't that good either.

Half-life 2. dear god, their's an example of a game i could have liked if it weren't for the fact that it was just so...dull and devoid of life. i mean seriously, valve is good at making games with little or no dialogue or character interaction. snorezville USA.
Halo 3 was horrible, and the awful graphics and zero iron sight aiming don't help. i mean, really bungie? jesus h. christ, if you cant make a decent game engine, just use unreal engine 3, it's perfect!
also, the original gears of war. while all the other gears games have plot (at least i'm hoping gears 3 will), gears 1 is just "travel from dystopian city 1 to dystopian city 2, shoot locusts, throw a grenade into a grub hole, there's a berserker, lure it outside, use the hammer of dawn, now it's dead, rinse, repeat". blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Mass Effect 2 started out good. Now I can't play it because I realized how terrible the combat is and how so many of your choices actually do nothing.

Fallout 3

Goddamn man ... screw the main story ... the whole point of Fallout is exploration, and you didn't even bother .. ! Get it on PC, whack in a bunch of mods. Slap bang best game in existence.
(late response ft)

I have it on PC, and I know it's about exploration, that's why I picked the Explorer perk

it just bored me, like, it just switched off

mods didn't looked interesting either

idk, must be the whole apocalyptic feel the game tries to have, and coming from the original 2, I couldn't really get into the SRSFACE of 3

but eh =P

Half life 2 and Assassin's Creed. I just keep on finding more interesting games to play and never get around to finishing them.

RDR, a thousand times RDR. I fucking hate that boring ass game, riding that horse all over the place was so dull. :|
