I bought halo 3 because of popularity. I played through it, hated it, replayed it, and decided it was OK.

FF 10. I was not a fan.

Voice acting, enough said.
i loved FFX!
exept for that laughing scene that i couldnt skip.
that part made my ears bleed
That is exactly what I'm talking about.
I agree with this. Apart from Tidus though, the other voice actors did not bother me and once you get past the first hour (which was crammed full of cut scenes) I found it a very enjoyable game.

Until X-2 came and pissed all over it.
I actually liked the battle system, but I could not get over the voice acting. I think I liked it better when they didn't talk.
The battle system was one of the best on X I think.
I agree. The ATB system is the scourge of the earth in my opinion.

The new battle system for XIII looks...intriguing.
Yes, it totally fucks up all that FF is good at. I haven't seen the new battle system, what is it like?

Think KOToR and Kingdom Hearts mixed together. That is just form what I see though.

Turn-based is out, I'm afraid.

Planescape: Torment. Blasphemy, I know. However, the game just defeated me. I got it because I had heard the best about its story, and I was indeed in the mood for a great story-driven CRPG, AND I also had plenty of time on my hands, a large cup of filter coffee and a carton of cigarettes in my drawer, to really explore it. It just didn't work for me. Whoever wrote and designed it certainly was inspired, but didn't know a whole lot about game pacing or text editing. The combination of fetch quest -> wall of sometimes but not always interesting text -> Where the hell is my party, omg worst pathfinding of all time -> more fetch quests -> mother of all walls of text that lost me somewhere on the 5th plane -> oops game breaking bug, please reload, it might not happen next time.... it just broke me. After about my 3rd sitting, I never loaded it again.

Ahh guttered; I think FF was the only game to master turn-based. I usually hate it, but it htye just make it work.

They remain, to this day, the only turn-based games I have ever completed besides Pokemon Gold.
Unless you count Civ 3, and I usually loose those.

People just don't have enough patience for turn-based anymore. Its gotta be instant gratification gaming.

For nostalgia, Guilty Gear 2 Overdrive. Way to complex in its gameplay and controls for me to enjoy.
For hype, Fallout 3. I just couldn't get into it like I could Oblivion.

Oh gosh, imagine Pokemon getting rid of it's turn based system O; FF should have stuck to what they knew best though.

Fallout 1 and 2. They were okay but I couldn't finish either one, especially once I read about just how the "romance" worked in 2. :p Not impressed, although I can understand why some people enjoyed them.

You really missed out there. The final location in Fallout 2, the movie that leads up to it and the battle that takes place there is more epic and awe-inspiring than 5 modern RPG's combined.

When Pokemon gets rid of its turn-based system is when I will start exclusively retro-gaming.

And yet, I'm still...intrigued... by the new FF battle system. It might just be the train wreck mentality, but I really want to see them succeed. I want just one more good Final Fantasy before they stop making them, which could be pretty soon.

Not exactly nostalgia, but.
Mirror's Edge

There was so much hype about it, and I thought it'd be brilliant, but I'm so glad it was in the sales for £10.00.
Come to think of it, I should have known it was bad if it was selling that cheap.

Three games: Deus Ex, Fable 2 and Morrowind. The first... Well, let's say I got fed up with it on the first level already. I did play fable 2 all the way to the end though, but it was just too short, the end was a slap in the face and some other mean stuff. And Morrowind? I just never got into it. I didn't understand the back story at all, I couldn't connect to the characters and the magic system kind of sucked.

Master of Orion III because MoO II was incredible.

MoO III was horrendous and makes me ashamed to own it.

Starcraft + Brood War. I kinda liked the singleplayer, but I couldn't get into it. Yes I know it was one of the first major RTSes. Well, just compare it with the wheel. Yes the simple cart wheel is the mother of all wheels, but do you prefer a luxury sedan or an ox cart. Yes the latter is the father of that sedan, basicly, but if you're used to sedans, are you really going to pick the ox cart?

Call of Duty 4 - thats right, I said it. Sure, it went from WW2 to modern times, but why is that such a big deal?

Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Fable 2, MGS4 and I second Irridium: "GTA IV - realism isn't always the best route." I missed my jetpack.
