Heroes of Might and Magic III

First time on release.

Second time with both expansions (cheaper than buying them seperatly)

Third time to get the DVD version.

Forth time to get another DVD version to keep at my parents home in case I get bored (also my little sister loves it)

Fifth time on GOG.com (good old Games) so I no longer even need a disc (my laptop has no CD drive).

It is one of the best games I have ever played, and I have spent countless hours playing it, alone and with friends and family. Higly recomend!

Techiniacally I have only bought these games once but I own two of them.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. My dad already owned it on pc, however I bought it on my ps3, not knowing that I there was already an Oblivion in the house.

Fallout New Vegas: I got it for Christmas for my ps3 and loved it. Then I thought, how much better would this be with mods. Then I bought it for pc.

Dark Project 2 : The Metal Age (or better known as Thief 2)
One I bought myself, the other was a present from someone who didn't know I already had it...

Blood Omen II
Bought it for the PS2, but then found a website called thelostworlds.net which looks into development "secrets", cut content and hidden content for the Legacy of Kain series. It got me intrigued, but you need the PC version to use hacks and modded savegames to unlock that stuff. It was just a few bucks.

Pathologic
Bought the English version first, despite English not being my maternal language... I really love this game, but the translation from Russian makes Google Translate look flawless. The game is mind challenging, complicated, cryptic and full of text, so it doesn't help when every sentence is filled with godawful grammar, cryptic phrasings and wrong information. For instance, one of your characters repeadetly insists she's immune to the disease. So I went hugging infected.
Fortunately, the German version has none of that, and it's laughably cheap.

Devil May Cry 3
One for PC and one for PS2. Even with a Playstation controller, the PC port is not recommendable, though it looks sharper.

Fallout 3: Broken Steel (Xbox and PC)
Stupidly clicked around on amazon, didn't notice I was ordering the Xbox-version... Ripped open the plastic foil at home, admired the green "radioactive" case, then raged. You need Fallout 3 for it, it's opened, it's German (and may be censored and not switchable), and if you wanted it, why the hell would you play FO3 on Xbox (no mods)? Refunding is not worth the hassle, if even possible, and nobody would buy it.

I bought Perfect Dark twice, once on N64, once on Xbox live. Bought Oblivion twice. Seriously considering buying the HD of Age of Empires 2, since the graphics of the first are all wonky on my PC and I love that game.[small]I know this is easily fixed, but it's inconvenient to end windows explorer and leave TM open every time I want to play AoE.[/small]

Well, I was a PC gamer, til my PC slowly shat itself and died despite my best efforts. Then I moved to a 360, so had to get a few old games for that. I now also have a Mac, so I've been slowly re-acquiring some of my old favourites whenever they become available. Some of the more notable are:

KotOR thrice (twice for PC, once for Mac),
KotOR II twice (once for PC, didn't work so I got the xbox version and play it on my 360).
Rome: Total War thrice (twice on PC, once for Mac)
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 twice (once for PC, once for 360).
Age of Mythology twice (both for PC, but I'm now looking at getting the Mac version).
Civ IV twice (once for PC, once for Mac)

Diablo II with expansion. I needed a new copy so that my brother could play at different PC's at the same time and I had to replace my broken disc of the expansion. my personal favorite so no money wasted there.

I used to buy Pokémon Silver + Gold & Sapphire + Ruby. Not sure if that counts, but they're basically identical.

That is all. :)

The only games I've bought twice which wasn't just part of a larger pack with other stuff I wanted (Either from steam sales or humble bundles) are GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. I own all of them on my PS2, but wanted to play through them on my PC.

I bought Walking Dead originally from Steam, and I followed up (after beating it) on the PS3. There was no good particular reason for doing so, I guess I just wanted a tangible copy.

QFT, I have wasted so many hours in that game over the course of my life. But let me say this as one HOM3 fan to another. Get Tarnum's adventures off of gog ASAP! you will NOT be dissapointed! no joke!

Well, I've bought pretty much every game I own more than once, but the most notable ones are

FFIX - I own the original PS1 discs in both German and English, two PC versions, and will buy it again on my Vita if I can.

Does it count if I didn't strictly buy them[footnote]Nothing illegal, some I got via promotions/given to me.[/footnote]? If so, I've got a few...

I originally owned Ocarina of Time on the Zelda: Collector's Edition on the Gamecube, then bought the 3DS version a few months ago.
This, and the Collectors Edition disk is why I own three copies of Zelda 1- Ambassador Program, NES Classics on GBA and the aforementioned Collectors Edition.

And the Ambassador Program means I have two copies of WarioWare Inc, Wario Land 4 and Zelda II.

Owning Super Mario All Stars means I own two copies each of Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3.

I've also got Mario 64 and Diddy Kong Racing, both N64 and DS versions.

Honestly? Pretty much every game I own for the 360 that is also on the PC. Until about a year and a half ago, I had a shit computer. Now that I actually built a gaming capable one, I've pretty much navigated wholesale. I forget the last game I bought new for xbox.

no, wait, Dragon's Dogma.

I own three copies of PS4 (Two launch copies, one signed (J) copy, I'm a fanboy and I've no shame about such), and have bought three copies of FFIX (1st stolen, hardcopy, digital PSN copy), nine copies of FFX (it's a game I give to people to get them started gaming... I meet a lot of gamers at card shops, and I'm always willing to go above and beyond to bring someone into console/PC gaming, I don't like segregation between groups so similar), and six copies of FFT (two died due to heat (PSX in houston, and being required to go to bed so not having time to save, as a kid), two were stolen, and one was traded for a copy of SotN).

I don't know if it counts, but if steam sales/multi-comp games count, I bought upwards of thirty copies of Dungeon Defenders to give my old WoW guild something more interesting to do (Some paid back, some didn't, I didn't really keep track... go go silly steam sales). And I've bought every iteration of PSO, so I kinda own half a dozen copies of v2, by virtue of it being an expanding game.

Also, because I tend to buy gaming bundles (usually console + games, fix up/paint/mod the console and resell it), I have a stack of Mario Bros./Duck Hunt carts that at one time numbered about thirty or so, but I use them for hackware projects and homebrew mods and the like (both the boards and the cart-cases themselves). I really enjoy coding for the NES, there's just something about it...

GTA San Andreas, GTA IV and Brutal Legend. Oh and CoD WaW, but I traded that one in to buy the PC version of Steam for a tenner. The GTAs I bought twice because I prefer playing on PC, but the PC release is always delayed, and it's nice to have it on a TV for when your mates come round and get drunk.

Brutal Legend just deserved to be bought twice in my opinion. I am so damn desperate for something, anything set in the universe. Sequel, Prequel, spin-off, movie, cartoon, tv show, I don't care GIVE ME SOMETHING MR. SCHAFER. PLEASE.
