--Lunar and Lunar 2 (PS1), the music for sure. More interesting than FF for me at least
--Chrono Trigger. A near perfect RPG. More endings than Mass Effect and Fallout3 you bet yah
--Fallout3: Proving that surviving after the end of the world can be endlessly cool, and good story telling is not dead.
--Metal Gear Soild, and MS4: (?)...(!) the bookends of the series, though MS4 is actually more like recalling a movie; which I do watch as a movie so sue me.
--Litte Big Planet, though not actually finished with endless awsome content.
--Super Mario World dah!
--X-Men original arcade. best super hero scoller ever. my life long goal is to find space and get the real thing. BTW why is this not on PSN or Live or even the WII market??
--Metroid. (gameboy) my first portable game, love it, my Gameboy (yes the first version)finally died last year and was still playing Metroid up until that time. Time to get a new gameboy, game is still good to go.

Perfect Dark 64, Portal, Zelda Ocarina of Time.

I find I have to force myself to complete most games as I get tired of the gameplay... This was true for Bioshock, Fallout 3, and even now, Dragon Age: Origins. I love these three games, but I get bored of them and only play to see the story unfold, not because it's fun.

Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time (this is probably my favourite game ever and I love everything about it), Portal, Knights of the Old Republic

From the hour or so that I spent playing at a friend's house, I kind of think Assassin's Creed 2 will eventually make the list, whenever the PC port comes out.

KotOR and Mass Effect.

do you ever notice that its the same games that come up every time when some asks the best games? Perhaps publishers should take note?

Morrowind, Oblivion, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, and fallout 3.

Please note how 75% of that was Bethesda Softworks stuff.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templar
The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
BioShock
Final Fantasy VII
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Titan Quest/Immortal Throne
Diablo
Silent Hill 2
Max Payne

Its so rare to find games that are simply awesome from start to finish, so many come close but suffer many bumps in the road.

GTAIV was too long and the social/nagging aspect was too much or it would be on that list, as well as Fahrenheit... were it not for the last half hour of that game where it completely jumps the shark.

God of War, God of War 2, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: World at War, Uncharted 2, MGS4, Gears of War 2. There are a few others that I could think of, but I guess I may be easily impressed.
