Fallout 3. A simple curiosity about a game a few WoW friends mentioned turning into a game that consumed hundreds of hours of my life. Sadly, since that fire is still alive, New Vegas hasn't quite captured the same interest for me.

I'll get around to that eventually... :p

the Golden Sun games. They were much better than I could have ever expected. I expected them to be final fantasy rejects that managed to fend for themselves long enough to release the game.
the Golden Sun games are some of the best games I have ever played. Really refreshing surprise if you haven't played them. How was the third one for the DS? I didn't get to play that one.

To me I never expected Halo would be great, it definitely doesn't deserve all the hate it has towards it.

Also Portal 1.

Super Meat Boy.

I had heard it was a fun little platformer, but months on I'm still playing it. Excellent game, totally worth the cash.

Oh also, VVVVVV. Bought it on a whim after liking the demo. Very very excellent game: totally surpassed expectation.

The Darkness.

It was a game I was constantly seeing in the preowned bin for a couple of dollars, so I assumed its crap. I had a couple of dollars lying around one day, and figured I would buy it for the hell of it.

That game was frigging awesome, with possibly the best romance scene in almost any videogame every. Its a borderline horror game, and yet it had a scene far more touching then games that you'd expect to get right.

I usually end up buying a game thinking it will be awesome and then it turns out it's the biggest piece of shit ever.
I was surprised by Alan wake being so good.

I got it when it came out. It really is a great game. Only reason I haven't completed it yet is because of this part where you have to collect a bunch of this gear. It takes forever. Anyways, really good game. In fact, i'm gonna go play it right now :D

Disgaea 2. Ho man. Bought it on a whim having never played the first.

Or, more recently, Section 8:prejudice. It's wicked.

Sonic Colors. When I heard Sonic was being voiced by ROGER CRAIG SMITH, there was hope. And that hope paid off! It was awesome!

And now I'm hyped for Sonic Generations.
Ditto, Sonic Colours was good fun, and it came with a Sonic Hat if you pre-ordered ^_^, only problem I had with it is that Donkey Kong Country: Returns came out like 5 days later >.<

I didn't expect much of out Super Meat Boy. I had a friend who kept telling me to look into it before it was released but I never did. All he had sent me was messages saying I had to play and basically the cover art of red + Meat Boy's facial features.

As soon as I tried level 1-1 of the demo and felt the controls I was hooked. I wish he would of just saying it's like N+, I would of looked into it immediately.

Also Harvest Moon 64, I don't know why but I absolutely fell in love and became addicted to that game upon release. I don't see why or how at the age of 12 when I saw the ad in Nintendo Power I got the idea of "This looks awesome!"
