2 games: fallout 3 and morrowind

with fallout 3 i was still in my ignorant only play linear games and follow a linear path games. so i got stuck on a quest and jsut didnt like it. 2 years later i got i again and liked it.

with morrowind, i bought it and just didnt like it, it was too confusing and difficult. years pass and i think i have the hang of it, i really have not progressed past the 3rd main quest. the game feels too big and alien, and im having trouble understanding where they want me to go with text only dialoge, but im pushing though and liking it.

Final Fantasy VII. After MASSIVE doses of liquid hype from the internet, I finally got to play this game only to discover that the first eleven hours are a tedious slog of irritating repetitive bland areas with horrendous low-quality midi music and arbitrary copy pasted battles with no real noticeable progression. It was only the fifth time around, actually, that I managed to get out of Midgar and realize that the game did not in fact suck, and was actually pretty excellent.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. It took a full HD conversion to solve the two issues I had with this game: The horribly disgusting low-frame-rate interlaced visuals and the inept control scheme. The HD edition looks great and the controls don't make me hate myself, so now it's quite good.

Final Fantasy XIII. I ragequit after dying inside 10 seconds five times in a row during one of the boss fights and never played it again before trading it in. A few months later, I rebought it - mainly because the story was very good and I wanted to see it through - and got through that boss fight on the first try. Now I really like the game.

same as said before, mass effect 1...dear lord was it so dry beyond belief at first, well not "dry" exactly, just so much "LUL WTF IS THAT ALIEN? WHAT IS GOING ON?" to the point that i barely knew what was going on between point A and B, but as like most bioware games, once i became a "spectre" holy shit i didn't stop playing that game for a day or so straight, i lovedddd every second of it after that.

i think i bought mass effect 1 3 times (2 on xbox 360 and 1 on pc)

Same for me. Awful and boring the first time round.

Then I modded it, even though it was still very flawed, I enjoyed it A LOT more.

X: Beyond the Frontier

Took me 5 hours to learn how to get about without crashing.
I'm having that problem with X3.
Not necessarily the crash more 'what's the point of this?'

Anyway, OT:
Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo
Downloaded it when it first came out and I did't especially take to it.

Read a bunch of Batman graphic novels and instantly loved how you are batman!!1!one!

The second playthrough, things got better surprisingly.
Yeah. The moment you get the hang of stealth, the moment you realize how unbelievably good/broken it is in every single way.
Anyway, pretty much every demanding game I played before and after I got a high-end PC, which are a bit too much to name here.

X3
Hated it the first time I played, because it was slow and confused the shit out of me.
Later, I read some of the praise people had about it.
So I tried it again, powering through the first 2-3 hours of learning.
Then I accidentally played for 20 hours straight.

I would have to say that my contribution would be the games Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64.

Both are under the same circumstances: When I first played I was a kid. I was impatient, I was temperamental, I didn't have much skill, and these were platformers that had a bit of a skill level to them. Much times of frustrated cries and rage quits were had. But then years later when I had matured more and had developed a love for a challenge I picked them back up and wound up enjoying them a whole lot more. Granted certain levels/bosses in both games annoy me, but those aside they are still pretty fun games.

Humm... this happened to me with the castlevania series a while back. Also with Halo ODST, first time I hated it, second I kind of enjoyed it. Also, the opposite of this (first love it, then hate it) was Halo 3.

Assassins Creed 2.

When I first tried it I HATED how slow the beginning ways. Starting off with Desmond & then simple chores with Ezio didn't make a very good impression. And then being on Full Notoriety for the first Mission was no help.

But then I finally went back and got through that part, and I loved how well-rounded the other Missions and characters were. Definitely worth the rough start.

Mass Effect... I didn't like it when I first played it and I let it sit for 6 months (I actually forgot I owned it!). One day I was just looking through and I saw it and put it in...

...and my mind was blown...

Us cool cats who played X:BTF had no automatic ship functions, you had to manually dock inside of rotating stations, it took about 15-20 hours to buy the (expensive) docking computer.

The whole point of the game is to do whatever you want.

In X3 I am a trader with a 21 station complex trying to sort out trade route issues, my traders are to damn slow.
But 2001 made it look so easy!
And if trading is all that goes on then count me out.
Not that isn't fun for some people, it's like city sims for me.
I love the idea but just can't get them right, I get envious of the tutorial cities and use cheat codes!

I like to imagine myself more as a combat pilot along the lines of Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace.
[sub][sub][sub]Whether I'd be as good as her is a totally different question...[/sub][/sub][/sub]
Shoot Toasters first and ask permission later.

OT: Thought of another one: the Assassins Creed series. I didn't like the first one, like a lot of people, but playing it again, it did a lot of world building right. Not stealth though. Didn't nail that really.

I said I am a trader, not you have to be a trader.

If you want then capture a few vessels, build up a fleet and go to war with the pirates.

You can do whatever you want.
I don't wanna build up anything! I do wanna blow up everything!! XD
It's just when I'm playing it on my own I feel I could be either:
A. Playing an RPG on my own with Skyrim
B. Playing a similar thing as X3 with other people with EVE: Online
C. Finding a cure for pancreatic cancer

Fire Emblem: The sacred Stones. I Got it when I was younger, traded it away, then bought it again. I kinda traded it because of a rage quit....
