Borderlands. I tried Mordecai first and thought the game was average, so I traded it in.
I then bought the GOTY edition when it came out and decided to use Lilith instead and thus began a love affair.
With the game, not Lilith, that's a whole other story.

FFXII. I hated it with a passion the first time around. My dislike for Vaan and also the stupid indication lines in combat made the game a chore to play.

Never finished it and I was quite happy to hide away on my shelf to never see the light of day again. However, only a month or two ago I decided to retry it, this time just ignoring anything to do with Vaan (he finished the game at lv 12) and also found out there was an option to switch off those stupid combat lines.

The game went up in my opinion to a resounding meh, which was a huge step up from how I felt about it before. I still don't think the game is great and was not worth the hours upon hours that was needed to finish it but is no longer a crime against gaming to me.
