Rift. It wasn't even a bad game, and I didn't even NOT like it, I'm just kind of burned out on WoW clones.

Also, I never loved KOTOR as much as I feel I should have. The prequels tainted Star Wars for me, and my ambitions of playing dark side were ruined by the Snidely Whiplash dialogue.

I've been told I should like the Witcher, but something about it pisses me off to no end.

Knights of the Old Republic is my big one. I'm just abysmal at classic W-RPGs like that, and the battle system just didn't grip me the way the characters did.

Another big one is Ocarina of Time. I liked it enough, I guess, but I really wanted to love it. So many people really have a strong connection to that game, and I guess I wanted to be a part of that. You had to be there, though, and I just wasn't.

Company Of Heroes. It's hard to explain why I thought I would like it, but at the end of the day, it tended to be really restrictive to any playstyle besides frantic RTS micromanagement motherfuckery. I was kinda hoping it wouldn't be, but that's my own fault, so I don't hold it against the game.
You think CoH has micromanagement? Try Men of War, there you have to manage the individual tank shells and ammunition for squads, as well as fuel. Every unit has an inventory.

BTW, Men of War is what I'm going to use as my game that I should have loved but hated. I've always wanted a tactical RTS like CoH with a little bit more into the supply side of things, but the sheer amount of micromanagement needed in Men of War was NOT my thing. To quote myself, after playing the demo I told my friend who loved it, "Managing ammo is the job of the quartermaster and the squads', my job is to tell them where to go. I don't want to play a videogame where I'm a quartermaster."

I can sympathize on Ocarina of Time for me after playing Majora's Mask I simply was not impressed with Ocarina of Time.

Mercenaries 2, I got the chance to blow away to pieces my whole hometown... except for the fact that last time I looked outside, I lived in a flat mountain-free city, the bad guy of the one awfully looked like a candidate from presidency who "lost" and the good guys were the same guys behind all the corruption that plunged us into the country with the highest inflation and murders per year in South America.
Besides, the gameplay didn't changed at all in the PS2 version, and graphically it looked worse than the first one.

The Half-Life series, number 2 in specific.

Sci-Fi? Check.
Fighting off alien invaders? Check.
Physics Puzzles? Check.
Physics GUN?! Check.
First person, immersive storytelling? Check.
Interesting side-characters? Check.
Adorkable side-kick? Check.

WHY DON'T I LIKE THIS GAME?!! IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!

I suppose I get annoyed by the linear levels, and the fact that most of the things Gordon got sent out for was just busywork, but I've put up with a lot more annoying things than that in a game (I'm an Obsidian fan) that I still enjoyed. I just don't get it..

I'm a huge fan of first person shooters and RPG's so I should like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but for some reason it's just not doing it for me. In fact, this is the most I've disliked a game I though I would like.

It could be that I recently picked up 2 of the New Vegas DLC...

Also, I'm not a big fan of the kind of stealth that is quite difficult, and that means you have start over if you fuck up.

I'm actually really surprised I don't like Mass Effect 2. I love Sci-fi stuff, the world is pretty cool, the characters are alright, I like the multi game consequences, I like RPGs, I like Shooters, and I like it when both are combined.

I should have cared about the characters and story more, but I don't. I don't get it, I only don't like a few things yet somehow I can't bring myself to enjoy this game. It is frustrating now because I want to finish the story in Mass Effect 3, but I just don't care.

Hello my fellow Escapees, I'm here to pose a question: Are there any games out there that you didn't enjoy, even though you would otherwise enjoy the premise/story/gameplay/characters? For instance, say you're a hug fan of Space, RTS's, aliens, online play, [sub][sub][sup]Warhammer 40k ripoffs[/sup][/sub][/sub] and modiblility, yet you simply can not stand playing Starcraft? Why do you think it is you don't enjoy these games? What about them should you have liked?

I personally am a fan of large battles, character customization, slightly-more-then-modern aesthetics and First Person shooters. However, I simply DO NOT enjoy MAG. My theory is that because higher-level players get far better equipment, and there are very few ways to gain experience, you have to grind for a LONG time before you can feel important on the battle field. A friend of mine and fan of the game tried to justify it by saying "Well a really quick way to get experience is to buy the healing tool and focus on healing teammates instead of shooting." And this struck a nerve. Essentially I have to do a lot of repeatitive, boring tasks before I can actually start having fun, and that is the PERFECT way for me to lose interest in a game.

So come one come all, share your stories and examples. All I ask is that everyone keep a civil tongue, thank you ^^
When did you start playing? I've had it since release date, and no longer play due to the community, and never had a problem with Experience. I am a sniper. No healing anyone. Especially since 2.0 they began to make it more "Forward assault wins everything forever" kind of game.

For me it is FPS games in general. I loved the older shooters. Grew up with them. But Since I first played Halo I can't stand the new shooters...And this was before it was "Cool" to hate on games cause of popularity. I actually came up with an opinion on why I thought the game sucks without anyone talking to me about it and not reading a single thing on the internet.
Yeah, The Library. Well, that and the insistance on re-doing the second quarter of the game backwards just to get to the final quarter - which is full of repeats of the first quarter...

That said, I loved Halo - I'd just be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

KOTOR. It's made by Bioware and it takes place in the Star Wars Universe. Should have been awesome. However, after two hours of play, I realized:
A)Shooting and stealth work terribly in this game, and

B)The Star Wars universe is boring when there aren't any lightsabers, space battles, or force powers involved.

Haven't picked it back up since.
To be fair, you'll get into the force powers and lightsabers later. There may even be a space battle or two, I can't remember. But yeah, it's a slow starter, which doesn't really help.

I dropped it on my first playthrough as well, though I eventually picked it up again and finished it. Didn't have any patience for the Dark Side playthrough tho - you're not just being evil, you're being a prick. It wasn't any fun for me.

Half Life 2 is such a fantastic game and the *ahem* DLCs put out for them are great as well. ONLY if you look at them as DLC and not separate entities. Sure, they're crucial to the story.... but... not nearly as good, alone. I enjoy what they were trying to achieve, but publishers/game developers have encroached on that idea and have turned it into something of the norm. This is the reason why I firmly believe Episode 3 will actually be a full game called Half Life 3.

Deus Ex: HR. I liked rainbow 6: vegas, I liked Splinter Cell. HR was basicly a mixture of those two yet I hate with the rage of a thousand fucking suns for some reason...

Mass Effect. I'm sure it's a good game, but Shepard is so impossibly bland and uninteresting. He can offer children delicious ice cream and puppies one minute and kill them all and nuke their ashes from orbit the next, and his tone of voice never changes. I couldn't inject any personality myself, because he was so badly voiced. That and combat is just retarded.

Command and Conquer 4.

I should have enjoyed that but instead I found that I had been sold an abysmal waste of cash. Thanks for killing the franchise, EA - you couldn't have missed the point more if you had been actively trying.

Gears of War 2, I poured so many hours into the first one that I was expecting good things from 2. Alas, it turned out to be just the oniony aftertaste of a really good curry.

BioShock. I really think every single thing about that game is great, except for the gameplay. Actually playing the game is a chore. Especially the final two hours (After the big reveal), which are godawful in my opinion.
