The original Kingdom Hearts, the first time I played it I hated it, then I decided to give it another shot and God damn if I didn't love it.

Kingdom Hearts 2

But that's mainly 'cause the first part of the game is so fucking boring.

Counter-Strike: Source. I had to get used to the slow paced feel of the game and the fact that I would die and die a lot when I first started. It was pretty frustrating to join a server and then have an 0-20 score. But now I got used to the fact that it was cripplingly difficult and how the basic feel of the game is. Now it's one of my favorite games.

Pretty much open world RPG's in general. Fallout,Oblivion,Mass Effect (though it isn't completely open world as you can go to all the planets, but anything that you have to get used to the stat system, gameplay elements and locations, I have to work to get used to it and then, only then, can i start having fun.

Slow death.

OT: Disgaea, a taste worth acquiring.

Hm, tough question. I like all my games usually though Final Fantasy and Baiten Kaitos are definitely what fits the definition, if there's any at all.

Had to get used to a pretty sub par battle system in BK and its horrendous voice acting.

Chromehounds-a MechWarrior-ish game that once I play it a bit it was pretty awesome
The Sims 3(at this point)-which I have a odd relationship with it, about once a year I pull out and play it nonstop for about a month before deciding I hate it (again).
Lords of the Realms 2 and Master of Orion 2(1 and 3 were crap)- I hope someday they make another one for both that do not suck

Demon's Souls and Folklore.
This is the first time I've had the feeling of [/thread].
Really? I don't know about Folklore (I've never played it) but I really slipped into with Demon's Souls. It was a perfect fit.

OT: Dragon Age: Origins. I've never been good at squad based point and click (ie RTS elements) so it was a bit foreign to me at first. The more I played the more I liked. Especially when I realised my mage could become an Arcane Warrior.

FINALLY, someone who has the saem love/hate relationship with it as I do.

OT: Half Life 2 took me a little while, and Guitar Hero/Rockband games. I got GH3 for Christmas '07 and played it with reluctance until I shredded my way through a few songs I knew (on the extremely hardcore Medium difficulty!) and then I looooved it. Though I am a RB fan now, probably because I have a ridiculous amount of DLC, which makes buying a GH game seems like a waste. And I tend to play drums/sing because it's awesome.

Recently, it'll be the newest Prince of Persia game. At first I thought it was "meh", but after playing it a little, I realised that it was awesome.

Hmm...
I'd have to say Silent Hill 2.
I first got the game about a year after in came out (which would be around when I was somewhere between 13 and 15), because it had gotten good reviews.

When I tried it out... I hated it. I couldn't even get to the town because I was so bored.
It wasn't until recently, when I took it out again and played it, that I was able to appreciate it for what it was. Now I love that game.

Burnout: Paradise. I didn't like it at first, being free world and all, but I slowly started to accept it (But Burnout 3 is still the superior game in the series)...

The Forza series, never really liked racers in general, let alone simulation racers, now i love them.

The Elder Scrolls Series, I always thought they were rather boring, a little to long to keep me interested throughout all of the quests, side quests and leveling. but i thought i'd give Oblivion a go when I saw it cheap, didn't like it at first. But now ive spent around 100 hours on a single character (with the help of mods of course). The mods REALLY help.

Dragon Age origins. Managing squads instead of single players I find to be far less fun and interesting than just playing the hero.

The story though....keeps you coming back.
