Got a second copy of Modern Warfare 2. My brother somehow managed to turn on my xbox and knock it over while my disk was inside, it got completely ringed... I now have the hardened edition case and the normal game disk.

Portal.
I bought a copy a couple years ago and forgot the Steam name.
Asked if Valve would transfer it, they said no. Got another one.
And now it's free.
I hate the universe and it's ways of messing with me.

Let's face it, every gamer has at some point in their lives got another copy of a game, regardless of how careful/scrupulous they are. Btw, backing up games on more than one disc or hard drive doesn't count.

So Escapists, what games do you have more than one copy of? (Bonus: What happened to the original/other copies?)

I have 3 Halo 3s (I enjoy playing with my friends). My first copy got laser-scratched when my 360 got knocked down, my second copy... well, I bought it from my friend, then his cousin said it was hers, so I just gave it to her ($40 wasted). I may have 2 Halo 2s, but my memory is a bit sketchy.
Final Fantasy X (first one got scratched and you can't get past the first sinspawn battle on killika isle), Mass effect (on pc and 360), Bioshock (on pc and ps3)
Deus ex on pc (twice, one of them is on steam), Shadowgrounds (one retail, one on steam along with survivor), Red faction one and two (on ps2 and then again in a retail 2 in 1 pack on pc).
That is about it, methinks.

I had two copies of Rise to Honor for the PS2 because two people bought it for me.

I also bought Prototype for the PS3, then bought it again for the 360. Haven't traded in the PS3 version yet.

Warcraft 3.

Mostly because I keep losing the damn disc, then go to buy another copy because they are so damn cheap, only to find the disc again the very same day.

Did Blizzard give these discs feet or something?
That, I think I've got about 4-5 of both the normal W3 and the Frozen Throne Expansion.

Also, Call of Duty 4, I've got 3 copies of that one.

EDIT: My keyboard wouldn't work properly. >.<

I've got:

FFX - x2
FFIX - x2
FFVIII - x3
FFVII - x5
FFXII - x2

the reason I have so many is because I keep lending them to people who don't bloody give them back! The girl I lent XII and the limited edition strategy guide to was a work colleague, so I thought, great, I'll see her everyday. No. She stole my stuff, walked out of work and I never saw her again. ***** ran off with £50 worth of my stuff! Oh, it makes me veeery angry.

I can't think of any games I've bought twice... I once got given LOTR: The Third Age by a friend when I already had it, but apart from that, I have nothing else to say here.

Not in the same way most people bought two but I got two games accidentally. I forget the name of the game but it was on the PSX and you controlled a tiger that knew various animal fighting arts, like the crane etcTai Fu Wrath of The Tiger.

For some bizarre reason instead of putting the game in it's little holder they put it in the book, so when I opened the box to read the book on the bench outside the shop(I had time to kill before getting the bus), I never saw a disk so I went back to the shop and told them, they put a disk in the holder and off I went. On the bus I read the book and found the other disk, oops.

Diablo 1 2x
Starcraft 2x
Diablo 2 2x
Metroid prime 1, 2 and 3 2x
Super Smash Brothers Bawl 2x
Legend of Zelda OoT 3x (4 if counting Master Quest)
Portal 2x

The reason I have diablo (2) and starcraft twice is because I wanted to play LAN with my friends on my laptop.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is double for me because, I use to have a freeloader with the American version, because we Europeans got screwed with release dates, but my freeloader broke.

Metroid 1,2, and 3 I bought those games on their release dates, and I got the Metroid Prime Trilogy box as well.

Portal I got on my Xbox and steam.

And Legend of Zelda, I got the classic N64 game, the Gamecube disk Zelda Collector's edition And The Wind Waker had a OoT disk with it that also included the Master Quest version.

Fallout 3 - I got the original and then the collectors edit for the bobblehead

Resident Evil - Accidentally stood on it and put a deep gash in the disc

Resident Evil 2 - it fell into the heat shield of our fireplace and melted

Worms 2 - Because I got it and then the worms collection

Sam and Max Hit the road
and
Day of the Tentacle - Bought both separately and then as a collection

The 7th Guest - Original copy stolen

Various Genesis games (but only as a result of buying collection discs for later consoles)

Blood Omen Legacy of Kain (On PC and PSone) - I started with the PSone title and then got the PC version in an effort to play with reduced loading times.

I think that's about it

Heroes V. I bought it when it came out and then wanted the expansions. It was in a bargain bin by that stage so it was cheaper just to buy all of them again.

Lego Racers. To be fair, we didn't buy this game at all. We ordered a game online (I don't remember which one now) and got sent this. We told them what happened and they told us to keep the game and they'd send us the one we ordered as well. Except they didn't; they sent us lego racers again. Finally, on the third try, they got the game right.

Re-volt: I have it on disc, it came free with a graphics card I think. But you need the downloaded version for it to work on Win7.
