Viking Battle for Asgard is one I could not beat. I reached the last level and I decided to just quit because I kept dying.

I am ashamed to say this but Rayman on the PS1. I got to the bit in the mountains but there are too many enemies and lightning bolts it just gets too much, it was the first game I ever got as well.

i could never get all the way through Dizzy, ANY of them. there wasn't a save option so you just had to keep going haha, old skool games are funny (the amount of commitment you needed for them...ridiculous)

At my best, I could finish ComixZone now and then. I could NEVER save the support character though, and it irks me to this day.

Also, I have never reached the maximum level (or equivalent) in any MMORPG. Not once. I just lose interest and either quit playing or start a new character. And the MMORPGs I've played include World of Warcraft and City of Heroes, which ANYONE could get to the endgame in.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is the only game I ever really gave up on. I've got some other games I didn't finish because of boredom, but NG2 was the only one that was simply too difficult.

Okami for the Wii. I couldn't get past the 'cut' spell tutorial near the beginning. Drawing three perfectly straight lines in quick succession with a Wii-mote is impossible.

Doom 3 (I think) for the Xbox. Even with god mode on, the final boss could keep kicking me off of the platform, into the lava. The lava wouldn't kill me, but I would be stuck, essentially rendering me incapable of continuing the fight.

I never beat Star Fox. I'd get to the last level on my last life and then something would happen and I'd die. Plus you couldn't pause the game on that level.

World of Warcraft.

I was told in general chat that the only way to "beat" the game is to quit it forever and do something productive. I'll beat it someday..

Seriously though, World of Warcraft has done a civil service for aids prevention.

EDIT: I hate to sound like a douche, but next time remember to put this in the Gaming Discussion Forum.

Marble Madness. I got to one of the late late levels and I could not figure out the depth perception of it. I gave up in frustration.

One that, despite enjoying several aspects of it, dragged out too long and I eventually gave up on, was Chrono Cross. Even getting to the second act took a ridiculous amount of time, and then I couldn't bring myself to keep going. So many good ideas there though.

And if you want to count it, I've never got 100% collection in any zelda game or Metroid game (except Metroid Prime 3 which made me sad for many reasons, one being the map of all hidden items).

Dead to Rights. This game is why I advocate regenerating health. I saved in a spot, presumably somewhere in the last, or next to last level, and I had about 4 bullets left, and just enough health left to survive a strong gust of wind. I take two steps forward, and the game triggers an ambush by a dozen guys with AK-47s, and not a health pack, or ammo box in sight. To make matters worse, the game doesn't let you backtrack. So I was stuck, perpetually seeing the game over screen.

I found that Perfect Dark Zero on perfect agent difficulty is just silly because in the third mission they make you 'stealthily infiltrate' a base with nothing but a pistol and a demo charge and if this one guy sees you then they make you restart, oh yeah and then you have to blow up a boat right in front of him without him seeing you
