another one of mine would have to be Harvest moon 64. There was something too it that just sparked for me when I played it. Regardless if my friends think I'm a retard for playing it, I still love it :p

Duke Nukem 3D. I can't get enough of the Duke Nukem camp, and the super fast-ness of Duke is fun, too. Is it so wrong that I'm also still waiting to be pleasantly surprised by DNF?

Blood Omen 2 and Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 & 2.

When I'm bored, I get the occasional fetish for playing crappy games.
I'm so tempted to write something highly offensive to your comment that PSO games are 'crappy'.

I can't agree on Viva Pinata being that great, as my reader review stated, after about 10 hours it became old hat. Presumably the 360 version has a 'make better button' Yahtzee was once on about?

I wasn't ashamed of owning it though. I told all my friends how much I liked it when I first bought it, and the game I was playing just before it was the pretty violent murder mystery 'Post Mortem'.

I too also had Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball. My friends still don't know I owned a copy.

I've wasted so many hours grinding through Nethack it's pathetic. That game is like warm, delicious ASCII comfort food--completely devoid of depth or nutritional value, but so much fun to waste time on it's obscene.

The Sims also springs to mind, especially when I revisit the original.

Airline Tycoon. Oh yes baby, basic puzzle game in disguise with some extra's and oodles of charm. But when I tell people about it they go "...what?"

Oh and for those saying FFX-2... I put up with it. I tried to like it. I witheld myself from throwing controllers into walls. I took anti-gay pills, just to be sure. But then I discovered that it is nearly impossible even with a strategy guide to do (or don't do! talk about failed game design) *just* the right things to get the ultimate dress-spheres. I got to chapter 5 and got Episode Concluded (instead of Completed) in one of the area's, and it took me a couple of hours digging through various strategy guides to find out what the hell I missed (picked a wrong conversation option or something somewhere around chapter 2). I went to a second hand game store, sold it, and never thought of it again. Unworthy of the Final Fantasy name.

Just so you know.

And Lego Star Wars is absolute win on a disc. People tell you otherwise, kill them, they are a threat to humanity.

I'm Gyro Captain and I approve this message.

That and the 3d versions of Worms are the games that people accuse me of being a nutter for playing most often, but I make no secret of it. :D

Barbie's Undersea Adventure. Enough said.

(Yes, I am male, and no, I have no idea why I played it. In my defense, I was really bored at the time, though that still doesn't really absolve me.)

I had worms Forts under siege for the PS2 for a little while. It was decent but I didn't really have anyone to play with. I kinda wish I were to have bought a 2d worms before buying it. After a while it just got insanely lame if you know what I'm talking about and also hard with all the aiming and things of that sort. And btw there's a new worms game for the Wii coming out soon :p

Pretty Soldier Wars A.D. 2048. And to a lesser extent, Sentimental Shooting.

Both games contain a lot to be ashamed of. There's the ridiculousness of the basic premise, for starters. The cheerful j-pop music. The omnipresent pastel color schemes. Not to mention the rogue's gallery of unspeakable fetishes common to most hentai products.

The problem is, for some strange reason, it seems that a porn game can only be sexy OR fun, never both at the same time. I should know. I've played a lot of 'em, because I like porn and I like games. I guess I think if I keep trying out every adult game I can find, sooner or later I'll find the Holy Gail that combines all the titillation of porn with all the fun of a good video game. If such a game exists, though, I've yet to find it.

It seems like all the American games made for adults are produced by people who have never played a video game before, let alone designed one, whereas all the Japanese games are about aliens raping 15 year olds.

"Why do adult games always seem to suck" is probably a different thread, though, so I'll shut up now.

But yeah, Pretty Soldier Wars and Sentimental Shooting stand out in my opinion because they were both actually fun to play.

Worms forts under siege is nowhere near as fun as Worms 3D or Worms 4: Mayhem. 3D's weapon selection options and levels are superior, while Mayhem has outfits and flags for your worms and several objective based modes and special weapons. And you're right about the controls, it probably took me a month to really get them down for 3D, and that was with a keyboard and mouse. Contrasted with the "pick up and play" value of the previous games, it's not entirely surprising the 3D worms games haven't sold well.

Adventure Quest. *flaunts her limited edition hairstyle*
Hmm.... I'd have to say that my dark little secret game is Magic Pengel: Quest for Color.
Tis a REALLY bad game to get introduced to during finals week.

Also, date sims. I actually like the challenge of fulfilling a certain set of parameters in order to unlock the next level.

Those things have parameters? Most of the ones I've seen were just graphical text adventures with almost entirely linear gameplay.
