Games you like but no one else seems to know about/like/understand

Sonic Colors. Anyone who says this is a bad game either didn't play it or went in so closed minded that it would suck that it did for them. This game has speed which is what we wanted in a 3D Sonic game. The power ups are good and not bad. They really aren't bad. People just like to find things to ***** about. I guess this just goes to show that some people are hard to please even when they get what they want.

I liked Gundam Crossfire. It gets a lot of flak, but if you are a Gundam fan and adjust the controls to type E you should be fine.

While they are popular I get eyerolls and sexist comments for playing Okami, Pikmin, and Sims3, since apparently only girls and 12-and-under boys play those games.

You had me until the Sims. Yes, only females and boys who are girls on the inside play that. Unfortunately, I cannot claim to be any better, I was a fiend for Quidditch on the game cube. =)It was such a genuinely fun game, especially if you are a HP nerd.

I expected a lot of games I'd never heard of, but I've heard of, played, and liked a good portion of these games. Go me, I guess.

For me, 2 games immediately came to mind. Hybrid Heaven for the N64, and Shadow of Destiny for the PS2. Admittedly, I played them a while back, and mostly just remember thinking 'this is the best stuff ever, how does nobody I know play this!?' when I had them. Shadow of Destiny is a game I've actually done a few playthroughs of, even recently, and still loved it - despite some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard. My Hybrid Heaven cartridge is wrecked, though, so I can't really do a retrospective look at that(although it looks like many reviewers didn't like it as much as I did).

Oh, also, The Bouncer for PS2. Me and my friends always played it when it came out, took me a long time to realize it wasn't as popular outside my circle of friends.

Gotcha Force for the GameCube. People overlook it for the popular games but to me it's the most underestimated game ever and the day I would see a sequel to that game would be the day I died.

Vagrant Story. That game is either loved for it's complexity or hated because of it's downright bizarre weapon system. It's one of my very favorites.

Good luck! Cryostasis is excellent, but it is *terribly* coded.
On a modern gaming PC I was able to get 10-15 FPS with everything at the lowest possible settings; and my brother, on a 5 year old notebook, was able to get 40 FPS with everything at medium. iirc, the engine calculates physics for almost *everything* in the level, resulting in terrible FPS drops whenever something happens.

And despite all that, I still think it's excellent: largely because of the setting, atmosphere, and uniqueness.

It's a great game, in which you're an Evil Genius and you have to manage your base, as well as carry out your plan to attain world domination. It's really detailed and stuff too...

A sidescrolling shooter on the PSone, you're piloting this awesome fighter which can pick up cool weapons like gatling guns, shotguns, missile launchers, a FREAKIN lightsaber and moree!!! to destroy enemy robots and shiz. When i talk about it no one seems to know what it is....one thought it was a porn movie...hahahaha

Brutal Legend. When you understand how to play it it's absolutely fantastic and an awesome take on the RTS genre, but with limited explanations and tutorials, a lot of people got into the Starcraft mindset and tried to micromanage their way to victory, completely ignoring the massive fuckoff battleaxe in their hands and the incredibly powerful double team attacks that the whole campaign had spent hammering into them. The fact that EA refused to let Double Fine admit there were RTS elements didn't help either.

If you like games that actually dare to step out from the crowd and do something different, I'd seriously recommend giving Brutal Legend a shot. Run through the campaign, keeping in mind that in the stage battles, you are the most powerful unit, and any time you spend in the air doing nothing, rather than double teaming, playing solos, or killing stuff with your axe and guitar, is wasted. Then if/when the action strategy gameplay clicks with you, try a couple of games on multiplayer. Since I started playing online last summer, it's become my favourite multiplayer game of all time, and has barely left my 360 since then.

I played the demo (which had no RTS stages, only the opening hack'n'slash gameplay), and I really liked it. I was thinking of getting it until I found out about the RTS gameplay. I'm not too big of a fan of RTS games, but maybe I'll give this a chance if it's a different take on it.

Yeah, it's not really RTS in the usual sense. The stage battles use the basic format of RTS games - build troops, use them to take down your enemy's base - but don't get bogged down in any of the technicalities, and the focus is always on fighting alongside your units, playing solos to buff your army or melt your enemies' faces, and using the awesomely powerful double team attacks. If you liked the demo, I'd say give it a shot, just don't expect to be able to kill everything in 3 hits throughout the whole game.

Baten kaitos: eternal wings and the lost ocean

The most realised world in a jrpg i have ever experienced. The story was epic, and managed to trump even the newer final fantasy games. It is a very lengthy game (about 60 hours from start to finish) and the battle system was awesome (like a mixture of magic the gathering and final fantasy), and the music...oooo...the music.



And guess what... this game is relatively unknown amongst jrpg fans, and that is just criminal.

If you've never played this, you seriously don't know what you are missing.

(Their was also a prequel called baten kaitos origins, but due to it being so late into the gamecube's lifespan it wasn't released everywhere, and i know us brits never got it, to my disappointment)

for new games I'd go with Vindictus. I tell my friends that you can pick up a tree and beat things with it and they say that sounds over the top and stupid.
