Final Fantasy 13.

Am gonna say it, i don't know why am gonna say it cause am gonna get flamed but its the truth. A game i originally wanted to HATE (which in turn made me miss the limited editon case and all the merchandise before release and that makes me so sad) It turned out to the greatest Final fantasy game i'll ever play. This is coming from a guy who had a japenses console and had my best friend translate the games when i was younger.

The characters are amazing. The gameplay is perfection. What really makes this game a masterpeice is attention to detail!.As an example theres a point where the party all calls out to lightning as she does smthing awsome. Now for 1 second and i counted it 1 second it cuts to everyone else they all do somthing diffrent all diffrent expressions just everything. You'd never even notice any of it but one of the characters since its only there for one second.

It really feels like a living breathing world. In every cutscene theres dozens of things you would never look at but its all there. Its amazing. I'll watch the cutscenes over and over and watch diffrent things instead of focusing on what everyone else would normally. Like theres another part like this. For a like 2 seconds it cuts to lightning running through a mob firing her gun and bringing hope with her by the hand. Now this is taking up like 85% of the screen but if you ignore the epic scene and look to the background you notice the psicom troops are all doing these crazy things. One signals to move one as one fires behind him as two troops advance forward because of the command. YOU"D never notice this crap but its there because thats what would really happen. The partys arnt the only one in this game.

Truley a masterpeice and my favorite game with starcraft BW in a close second.

I cannot for the life of me understand the hate it gets. played through it like 7 times and still playing it and enjoying it like the first playthrough.
Dude! I am so with you! Trying to convince people that 13 is sooo worthy of the ff name is really frustrating..keep fighting the good fight brother

"Second Sight! It's this awesome third-person action game where you wake up and find you have psychic powers, and then there's all this time-traveling-change stuff that happens, and then there's all these missions in the past where you fight on a squad, and really epic stealth sequences where you use your psychic powers to distract... um, disturbing and awesome asylum level... uhm...

POSSESSION! You can possess people halfway into the game!

PLOT TWIST! BEST PLOT TWIST IN ANY GAME EVAR!"

No one else has played it yet. It makes me sad.

Also, Myst Online. The MMO you never heard of.

It is primarily a mac game with crappy graphics and more quests then Runescape on steroids. It's the cornerstone of RPGs I say. I mean, come on, what other game has a talking cow?

Spiderweb Software are a great company. Have you played Geneforge, per chance?

I feel like I'm the only one who likes Sonic Heroes, yes the voice acting sucks, Teams Hero and Dark where the only ones worth playing, and most of the bosses repeat, it was still a fun game to me. Also I enjoyed the first series of .hack games (not the G.u. ones, though those where ok).

Super Mario Sunshine. Why does nobody like this this game?!
I like it, I like it more than Galaxy to be honest. Though I have the PAL version so whenever I want to play it I have to put in the Freeloader disk, then wait for it to load up, then hold the B button so I can actually see the game it's still a great game.

Of course I have. Geneforge 5 was sort of meh compared to its predecessors, but still awesome.

I played it on Gametap, a monthly/yearly subscription site that gives you access to over 700 games (most crap, some awesome) as long as you subscribe. I'd recommend it, even if only for a month.

Shining Force 2 is a long-forgotten classic for the Genesis. I can understand most Genesis games being forgotten but this one consistently made it to top 100 games of all-time lists throughout the 90's and early aughts. It shouldn't be as forgotten as it is now.

If only I could find it... I played a PC version of the original, and I want that sequel!

They take a good few months-year to finish. At least you get your money's worth.

Killer 7 for sure, but it's easy to see why some don't "get" it. Not a lot of multiple personality/rail-shooter/puzzle/stone-cold freak-out games for comparison. My nephew was scared off by the laughing logos before the title screen. I still love that game.

Beyond Good and Evil should have been a blockbuster but...wasn't.

Ico made holding hands cool.

I expected a lot of games I'd never heard of, but I've heard of, played, and liked a good portion of these games. Go me, I guess.

For me, 2 games immediately came to mind. Hybrid Heaven for the N64, and Shadow of Destiny for the PS2. Admittedly, I played them a while back, and mostly just remember thinking 'this is the best stuff ever, how does nobody I know play this!?' when I had them. Shadow of Destiny is a game I've actually done a few playthroughs of, even recently, and still loved it - despite some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard. My Hybrid Heaven cartridge is wrecked, though, so I can't really do a retrospective look at that(although it looks like many reviewers didn't like it as much as I did).

Oh, also, The Bouncer for PS2. Me and my friends always played it when it came out, took me a long time to realize it wasn't as popular outside my circle of friends.

P.S. Long time lurker, finally made an account just to post this.

Brutal Legend. When you understand how to play it it's absolutely fantastic and an awesome take on the RTS genre, but with limited explanations and tutorials, a lot of people got into the Starcraft mindset and tried to micromanage their way to victory, completely ignoring the massive fuckoff battleaxe in their hands and the incredibly powerful double team attacks that the whole campaign had spent hammering into them. The fact that EA refused to let Double Fine admit there were RTS elements didn't help either.

If you like games that actually dare to step out from the crowd and do something different, I'd seriously recommend giving Brutal Legend a shot. Run through the campaign, keeping in mind that in the stage battles, you are the most powerful unit, and any time you spend in the air doing nothing, rather than double teaming, playing solos, or killing stuff with your axe and guitar, is wasted. Then if/when the action strategy gameplay clicks with you, try a couple of games on multiplayer. Since I started playing online last summer, it's become my favourite multiplayer game of all time, and has barely left my 360 since then.
I played the demo (which had no RTS stages, only the opening hack'n'slash gameplay), and I really liked it. I was thinking of getting it until I found out about the RTS gameplay. I'm not too big of a fan of RTS games, but maybe I'll give this a chance if it's a different take on it.
