I loved Borderlands. That was great fun. But hands down the most underrated game in years is EDF 2017. Oh sweet Jesus that game is fun. You fight giant bugs with weapons that make the end of District 9 look like a bunch of kids pointing at each other saying "pew pew." It's so ridiculous. I love it.

grand theft auto IV I lovrd th game yet loads of people say it's shit
That has got to be one of the most popular games on earth.

OT: Demon's Souls. All my friends refuse to touch it, or even look at it, but I think it's decent. Still haven't beaten it and it's been 2-3 months, though.

I loved Red Steel, and all Sonic games up until the Wii ones (haven't played them, have no opinion, but Adventure 2 and such were tons of fun).

Aww I loved that game (but indeed, the only other people I know who heard of it found it boring for some reason).

Also, "You are empty": I know it has many many flaws, but I love its atmosphere

Mechwarrior. A lot of people don't like it, but I play the hell out of it (joined the club with 3, then got 4 and the 2 expansions, all have been played a LOT).
Agreed, I liked how those games reminded you that despite all its power, your mech is still a machine with limitations. For example, you could load up on all the most powerful weapons, but don't think you'll be firing them non-stop.

Shattered Horizon... Nobody I know liked it all that much, but something about killing people while literally floating in space was appealing.

Not like it matters anymore... the game has about 7 players on it at any given time.
I think people really didn't like how demanding the specs were, I mean it's as infuriated as Crysis was back in 2007 and yet the graphics aren't even that good...0o

As for me I'd have to say Fear 2, I had a lot of fun with the game and it still had a way better AI then every AAA FPS title that has come out since.

Too Human. It has heaps of problems and still manages to be heaps of fun if you try to look past them. Seriously people, calm the fuck down. It's far from the worst game ever. If you find it on the cheap, give it a chance.

I loved it, both single and multiplayer, although the multiplayer bugs really detracted from it, and the lack of a proper dedicated server sucked bigtime.

Modern Warfare 2. It gets a lot of flak, and I'm among the first to admit that it's far from perfect, but I enjoy playing it nonetheless. Games don't need to be perfect, they just need to be enjoyable, and a few sessions of MW2 team deathmatch with friends of an evening is a great laugh.

Resident Evil 5 - it's really fun when you play it with a pal, but well... it wasn't very Resident Evily or scary at all, which is why everyone else on the internet loathes it. :p
It's irrational, has more than a few flaws and is short, but it still bloody well beats co-oping in Army of Two or any other co-op game available at the moment. Incidentally, they seem to be planning co-op campaigns for a lot of upcoming games (FEAR 3, Dead Space 2 --) and it'll be interesting to see if they stick with it and how they'll execute it, in that case.

Also, Army of Two: 40th day with VERTICAL splitscreen? That's not even funny.
