I think Dynasty Warriors doesn't exactly treat its females right. Pretty much all of them are devoted wives who always gush over their husbands and really don't have much interaction with anyone else. Weirdly enough its counterpart Samurai Warriors doesn't seem to have this problem.
To be fair, its a series based on history and war. Not a lot of females to choose from that aren't just famous wives and concubines. Would you prefer they just not have any women besides Wang Yi who was only actually relevant for one minor battle but instead is given major importance in the Wei army?
Its a series based on history but except for 7 and 8 its Samurai Warriors which always struck me as more historically accurate and that series doesn't have that problem. I would like to see DW learning from its sister series. Rather then just make a devoted wife they could do something like Kenshin's sister who is hilariously creepy, scares even enemy warlords and who seems to be the real one calling the shots. Even Nene who does act like an adoring wife and housemom still has plenty of interactions with characters other then her husband which DW females lack.
Dynasty Warriors is primarily based on the fictionalized Romance of the Three Kingdoms, plus DW is set in a much older time. In Samurai Warriors Koei intentionally took more creative liberties with, but its also a more recent time than 200AD, so there is more known. I'm not disagreeing with you, just elaborating on why this may be how it is. Plus its more jumbled than the 3 factions of Wu Wei Shu, so there are a lot more interactions with people. Majority of the playable characters have met or been allied either under Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, or Ieyasu, where as a lot of characters in DW never so much as shared a battlefield.

Side Note: Its weird what gets the typo redline. Nobunaga doesn't, but Hideyoshi and Ieyasu does.

I would define sexist as "Intentionally demeaning to women".
I would definitely remove the word "intentionally", there. By that metric, ye olde medieval society was not sexist.

I don't think any game is "Problematic". It just appeals to an audience that's interested in sexy stuff in games.
Out of interest, d'you believe any art can be problematic?

I'd find it rather odd if the answer were "no", but I'd find it rather odd for other reasons if the answer was "yes", because that would mean games were uniquely exempt, and I can't see why they would be.

Absolutely none, I dont understand how people can even ask questions like that. The very thought that people find things morally objectionable and still enjoy them, is mind boggling to me.

There's Zhang Chunhua in DW 8. She's similar to the other female characters in being a devoted wife, but she does have a personality. Arguably the best one out of all of the women in this game. Especially if you're unlocked the "what if" stages or scenarios. She's got a tight leash on her husband, Sima Yi, scaring her children in line (out of tough love in some twisted way), and she never stop smiling. That is scary, and Zhang looks like the kind of gal you don't want to make angry. Hell, it's implied she's the one that wears the pants in the family.

Plus, if anyone wants female characters who are more than just devoted wives/concubines in a Tecmo-Koei game, just play Hyrule Warriors. A majority of the cast is female.

No More Heroes, though it isn't really any kinder to the protagonist than any of the ladies.
No love for this Otaku Assassin. He does seem like the type to enjoy having an underage girl call him master.
No More Heroes 2 actually addresses this. In one scene after completing Shinobu's last stage, she tries to hit on Travis, and he obviously squicked about it. The guy outright says that he doesn't want to be a perverted old man and refuses her advances. Granted, Travis is 29 in this game (it takes place 2 years after the first game), and Shinobu is 20, so that's a 9 year age gap. Even though she is an adult, that is still a great consideration on his part. So go Travis!

As far as the game not be any kinder to protagonist nor the ladies, that was the point; especially for the first game. Hence the title, No More Heroes. None of the characters are heroic at all, male or female. Though I always hated Sylvia, and the ***** got what she deserved in the sequel. Most of my favorite boss characters from the series are female, either due to their personalities or because their boss fights are fun. The only female bosses I don't like are Kimmy Howell (not that fun to fight), Cloe Walsh (boring fight and she doesn't that many attacks), and Mimmy, a bit of a pain to fight on Bitter mode.

Okay, yes. Tits. And it has mud wrestling, and a humilation game mechanic.

you know what else? It's also a damn good wrestling game, with a great cast of colorful lady wrestlers who'd fit perfectly well into modern WWE. Hell I'd even think it would make a great anime considering some of the character's backstories. So not only did the player get the extreme beach volleyball presentation, but decent gameplay to go along with it.

Plus I love Reiko Hinnomoto's look. She's cute, while at the same time looking like a bad ass Goldberg style MMA fighter. Every one of these ladies looks like she could do some serious damage.
I played it once with my buds and it was one of my most embarrassing gaming moments. Not because of fanservice, but because I sucked. At one point we were having a tag match and it spilled to the outside. I tried to jump down to help my partner and ended up elbow dropping him in the face. Everyone just stopped and stared at what happened and all I could do was go "Uh...distraction attack!" and hit someone else.

err...what? telltale has a game, but I'll point directly to the game of thrones books/tv series, there is a shit ton of stuff in there that people find morally objectionable but still ooze from the panties in loving it.

OT: man, people go off the deep end apparently any time the word "sexist" is used, I really dont' think the OP meant anything bad by the thread, so loosen the butthole a bit and enjoy a thread once in a while.

some good ones have been listed already, like mass effect with the asari and butt camera angles...

one that gets brought up usually that hasn't is the witcher, it's first game has those "gotta collect em all" optional cards for having sex with different ladies, and thats not even getting into the treatment of women in universe nor how alot of the random npc's dress.

How about none? Sexism is hatred of a gender, I can't name a single game that leaves me with the impression "Wow, the developers really fucking hate women!"

Far Cry 2

If I had to describe FC2 and FC3, I would describe FC3 as having a lush tropical woman for a girlfriend. She's dreamy and panders to you but she isn't exactly the best when you're trying to have a serious real conversation of any kind.

Whereas FC2 can be described as having a lean hardened military woman for a girlfriend. She isn't gonna take ANY of your shit but if you give her the time she needs and be patient with her and show her consideration, she'll treat you right and show you an amazing time you probably won't ever be able to have with anyone else.

They both have their purpose indeed but if I had to choose, I'd go with Far Cry 2. The problem is though, everyone was turned off with a bunch of stuff about it. And again, Far Cry 2 isn't going hold your hand.

Wow that titty-pirate looks dumb. She looked better before, I wonder why they thought they had to change her.

I'm kind of numb to the dumb issues games have in them now, I've just put up with it for too long I barely even notice it any more.
I do find it ridiculous when they try to have a wink-to-audience female character tittyshaking for the presumably male audience's amusment. It's just boring.
(And no, before someone jumps down my throat- I am not 'sex-negative': Jiggleboobs Pirateface isn't 'sex'. It's an example of a very narrow view of sexuality that is rather broadly applied).

Metal Gear Solid. That's really the top you're gonna wear while you're in fucking Alaska, Sniper Wolf? Yeah, sure, that's a choice that makes sense for you as a character and totally isn't to try to sell titties to me.

Megaman X 4, 5, 6, and 8. Why are the robots demonstrably male and female? And why are the female robots given long hair and big round tits to make sure we know they're female? (I excluded Megaman X7 because I remember nothing about it except that it's fucking garbage.)

Final Fantasy VII and X. Tifa's skirt is absurd; there's a reason her attack animation only shows her throwing a right punch and then kicking an enemy in the shin, because she has no mobility for anything else. Lulu's top is equally laughable, and the only way I can imagine her participating in any kind of physical activity up to and including walking without falling out of that thing is if she borrows Wakka's hair gel to make sure her top stays glued to her tits.

Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door. Why does every female party member fall in love with Mario despite none of them being Mario's species and Mario having viciously beaten the shit out of at least one of them? Kinda defines their characters by their attractions to available men.

Every fighting game I own, because there is someone in each one of them dressed like a dominatrix or a schoolgirl or is wearing high heels while doing acrobatics or is wearing a loincloth that gives me pantyshots during her victory pose or some fucking thing.

I'm pleased to note these problem generally tend to be in older games. It's less a statement of the overall quality of the industry improving than it is of me spotting the trends in video games as I get older and avoiding current-gen games that look like they'd annoy me, but still.

I don't look at games trying to find things to be offended by, I don't analyze art with a criteria of social jusice or civil rights or what have you, I'm too busy paying attention to the story and gameplay to bother devoting mental faculties to ponder meta analysis of ass shots or what have you. Hence, it has never once occured to me that any element in any game is "problematic" and I am someone who maxed out evey girl and got every mission done with boh A rank and frantic rank in senran kagura burst, for both ninja schools, so that should inform you of what I have experienced.

Tifa is wearing a skirt? I thought she had short shorts on.

Hmmm, I will give myself a break because it is hard to tell with those graphics haha

In Ninja Gaiden Black, there is a female character who in the Team Ninja style is all TNA and in a skimpy uniform. Doesn't add anything to the game at all, just there because Team Ninja likes busty white women, haha.

lmao, forgot about the part where she is all moist from being eaten by a demon. And no, not that kind of eaten!

haha, I crack myself up.

Zelda games are completely problematic. The way you get money and items either involves killing animals in cold blood, or else trespassing on private property and smashing stuff up to find and loot people's gems. And worst of all, these games are aimed at young, impressionable children, totally reinforcing capitalistic norms of winning through acquisition of wealth by whatever means necessary.

YES! Thank you. You really can't mention the word "sexist" nowadays without people assuming that you just want to ban sexy things in games and hate that they personally enjoy something and most likely also would like to burn their house down with them inside.
I just wanted this to mostly be a fun, lighthearted thread were we laugh about how cheesy and silly our beloved games can be sometimes but it seems like it wasn't meant to be. Though I admit that my OP wasn't the best at conveying my intention.
Hehe, yeah those Witcher sex-cards were super-corny. Though the completionist in me still enjoyed to collect them all.

Well, this I can understand.
The only game to make me raise an eyebrow so far is Skyrim and Caught Red-Handed quest.
Not sure if it counts.
Yes this was what I meant.
What was the Caught Red-Handed quest again? What in it made you raise an eyebrow?
My last Skyrim adventure has been awhile.

There's an inn in Riften, called Haelga's Bunkhouse, managed by Haelga and her younger sister. Haelga worships Dibella, who is a goddes of beauty and love.
If you talk to her younger sister, she tells you that Haelga fucks too many men. She asks you to obtain some Haelga's trinkets from those men and then slut-shame Haelga using those. She then goes on about keeping one's virginity until wedding and stuff like that.
I don't even find this problematic, but it made me raise an eyebrow for sure.
Where did you get a sister so christian-minded in this pagan setting of yours, Haelga?
Why would something be considered immoral if there's a real actual goddes backing it? Morals come from the gods, don't they?
And what with the sick perverse gratification I'm supposed to feel messing up somebody's sex life?
Yeah that does sound pretty preachy.

There are many gods in the Elder Scrolls both the Nine Divines and Deadra if I am spelling that right. I believe whether someone is part of the divines is a whole plot thread in the game. Either way, correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the woman in that quest worshipping a daedra and doing it in the daedra's name

Edit: My mistake. It was in worship of Dibella whose is part of the nine divines but still each divine has different teachings
