Knights of the Old Republic 2. It had a good deal of game-breaker glitches, a terrible script, an absolutely painful and confusing plot, and is the most disappointing sequel to a great game I've ever played.
I tried to play it over again last summer because I thought that I may have missed some of the subtleties due to the age I was when I first played it. I ran into the same game breaking glitch 2 times at around the 18 hour mark and had to start all over again. The third time it happened, I gave a roar like the Trex from Jurassic Park, tore the disc out of my Xbox, chewed on it, broke it into tiny pieces, and threw the pieces out the window because even the garbage was too dignified for that piece of CRAP!

World of Warcraft by a long shot... its like a second job... that you have to pay for.. and everyone who plays it won't shut up about it.
I agree but I would tack on that it's not an RPG. It's a game with customization options. The reason why I think this is that it is missing the critical part of the genre, you know, ROLE PLAYING!

I am very fortunate to be so picky about games that I have never played a game that I have loathed.

Wait, no, I lied. Shadow the Hedgehog. I loathe that game so much I mostly bleached ever playing it out of my memory.

Before I get to flaming everyone else's responses (because I'm cool like that)...

The honourable mention in this category is "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed". That was the one that really broke my blind faith in Star Wars games and made me realize I was finally done with stomaching all the shit they'd stuff in a box and send my way. Awful story with mediocre writing, awful controls, horribly unbalanced and frustrating...I stuck with it to the end (to see the end, because I mostly play Singleplayer games for the story) and somewhat enjoyed the ending(s) although I think the evil ending could've been done better. And now there's a sequel coming...why??? Oh right, because it sold like 7 million copies...Ugh. It was definitely more disappointing than being actually bad (though it was bad too).

The winner, however, takes a bit of explaining...for New Years, I did a bad co-op game marathon with my buddy James. We suffered through "Band Hero" for an hour or two (couldn't get "GH: Van Halen"), we endured (almost all of) "GI Joe", we survived all of "Terminator Salvation"...but NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING prepared us for the atrocious and downright horrifying action provided by "Damnation", a low budget steam punk cowboy shooter. We didn't get more than ten minutes in because of a combination of poor voice acting, terrible level design, buggy controls, and the sheer side-splitting hilarity of how bad this game was and how impossible it was to play. You want to see a sheer train wreck of a game, give it a go.

I do quite agree on your points about KOTOR 2 being confusing and a bit dissapointing...please recognize that the game is that way because Lucasarts rushed the development (but that's no excuse). If you're looking for a version of KOTOR 2 that is more complete and makes a bit more sense (and hopefully less buggy), give this a spin...one part fan made, one part made by former developers on the game.

GTA IV.

I have no idea how someone can defend its craptastic controls and seriously boring gameplay. The cars handle like a semi-truck that has wet tissues for suspension, and the missions boil down to this: go here, kill dude, come back. Please don't tell me that the controls are supposed to be realistic, especially in a game where you can get away with killing a cop by driving two blocks away from the crime scene. Plus, look up Forza 3 and GT5 for realistic vehicle controls.

Also, tell me this - how is Niko supposed to be a likable character? Am I supposed to root for him cause he's on a revenge mission? He simply takes on killing-spree missions with the promise of being paid. Plus, he kills cops and several other innocent people to just have his vengeance. Seriously?

And Midnight Club : LA.

If a game tries to increase difficulty by making the A.I. vehicles indestructible AND significantly faster than yours, fuck it. I have seen the A.I. cars in this game literally plough through waves of traffic without losing a single MPH of speed. But when my car hits traffic, I end up inexplicably facing the opposite direction. They say the amount of traffic is supposed to be realistic since that's what L.A. is notorious for. Okay, but tell me, why would you make a game where you can go at supersonic speeds while there are a hundred things that can stop you?

TL;DR - GTA:IV and Midnight Club:LA for their lack of consistency when it comes to "realism".
Not everyone is going to hate what you hate or like what you like. You did not like GTA IV. In my opinion I think GTA IV is an excellent game. I am not going to defend it just because you don't like it.

Some people like Niko and some people hate Niko. I liked Niko Bellic as a character. I thought he was quite cool.

A game I loathe is Heavy Rain. I don't really loathe the game as much as I loathe the massive plot holes and bad writing that was in Heavy Rain. The gameplay in it was fun and the graphics are pretty good looking.

Nothing.

Except maybe GTA 4 for being a sequel to one of my favorite games, and then realizing it just wasent half as fun as the previous games.

Something about the lack of aircraft just gets to me i guess, that and dodgy vehicle controling, nothing to spend your shitloads of money on, and generally a crap story.

Devil May Cry 4. I played the game the whole way through because it was quite short (and I think I was hoping that it would get better), but Nero!? Why the hell did Capcom think that a whiny, bitchy clone of Dante was going to be a good idea? Stupid Nero and his stupid whiny cookie cutter girlfriend..... *seethe*

Pokemon Yellow version.

See, I grew up with the classic Red version and my best friend had Blue. Yellow was that deformed middle child who came later and tried to be cool, borrowing heavily from the crappy TV and contributing nothing!

I never played the yellow version, but I've seen demos of it and just seeing it on the shelves made me scowl. Even the color yellow has lost points with me for being associated with this last minute cash cow.

Final Fantasy 8.
Only thing decent about it was the music and graphics for its time, but the main theme songs fucking sucked. That cheesy love song is the worst.

Edit: I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT IT. METAL GEAR SOLID 4. I've never felt quite as burned as I did playing MGS4. It's like they took everything I loved about 1,2 and 3, threw it out the window and replaced the holes in my heart with NANOMACHINES.

Soul Fighter-A dreamcast game. It is the most horrendous, disgusting excuse for entertainment I've ever played.

Just don't play games that you dislike, but I suppose it's possible to loathe a series or a developer/publisher for destroying a series you previously loved, like C&C4.
