Morrowind. Now, hear me out.
I loved Oblivion, and I quite enjoy Skyrim as well. In fact, I thoroughly enjoy most western RPGs. Especially those with enormous open worlds.
Popped Morrowind in. Made it to the first town. Got quest from Fighter's Guild. Since I'm new to the landscape, I decided to stay railroaded in the main quest. I go to the Dwemer ruins, jump down from a ledge, am now trapped. I quicksave because I knows something's coming up.
Of course, being used to Oblivion at the time, I was utterly unprepared for how utter shite the combat is. All I have is a basic bronze dagger. I attack an enemy, hitting him right in the head. It says it misses. I proceed to get my ass handed to me. My only save was the quicksave, so I now have to start over since there's no chance of beating the enemy. I then proceed to ragequit.
One day, I keep telling myself, one day I will reinstall that godforsaken game and actually play it. I swear I will. I still haven't, and it's been a couple years. Honestly, I'll only be doing it for the story and exploration, not for the actual dungeon delving.
