Morrowind. Now, hear me out.

I loved Oblivion, and I quite enjoy Skyrim as well. In fact, I thoroughly enjoy most western RPGs. Especially those with enormous open worlds.

Popped Morrowind in. Made it to the first town. Got quest from Fighter's Guild. Since I'm new to the landscape, I decided to stay railroaded in the main quest. I go to the Dwemer ruins, jump down from a ledge, am now trapped. I quicksave because I knows something's coming up.

Of course, being used to Oblivion at the time, I was utterly unprepared for how utter shite the combat is. All I have is a basic bronze dagger. I attack an enemy, hitting him right in the head. It says it misses. I proceed to get my ass handed to me. My only save was the quicksave, so I now have to start over since there's no chance of beating the enemy. I then proceed to ragequit.

One day, I keep telling myself, one day I will reinstall that godforsaken game and actually play it. I swear I will. I still haven't, and it's been a couple years. Honestly, I'll only be doing it for the story and exploration, not for the actual dungeon delving.

Just cause 2 I should love that game but I just can't seems to enjoy it unfortunately.
Same here. It's an open world, blowing shit up simulator. It's a helluva lot more fun to watch than to play.
Dragon Age: Origins too. Maybe it's because I played it on consoles, but the combat was just awful, and the only appealing thing about it was the character banter, and the story was the same old clichéd stuff Bioware always puts out.
Oh, and fuck EA for locking Shale to DLC.

Also, Monster Hunter Tri. I usually love MMO solo gameplay, including in single-player games. Something about Tri just made it not work for me.
You should give Monster Hunter Freedom Unite a try if you haven't already and if you have a PSP.
Tri came afterwards, and REALLY dropped the ball in my opinion. There were only 18 monsters, and it was bogged down with ridiculous grind-y quests. It took forever to get anywhere. Locking weapon types is also something mind-blowingly idiotic. I feel Tri misrepresents the series, and being on the goddamned Wii of all things really didn't help it any.

But the aforementioned Unite is what is best about the series.
Huge, epic battles, tactical combat, eleven different weapon types all available from the start, over 60 unique monsters, thousands of creatable weapons and armour pieces, and local co-op for up to three friends. I sank nearly 2000 hours into it, co-oping with my brother when possible.
Not to mention, every quest is doable solo if you're the kind of person who prefers that.
Highly recommended and worth a look.

The Witcher (1 or 2). Just blech, I do not see the appeal. I get it's a good game, but I just don't like it.

Also Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., RAGE, Dead Island, any Zelda Game, Saints Row 2 and Mercenaries 2. All great games, but I just... eh, I play it for an hour or two and just think "So this is what the rest of the game will be like, huh?" and just lose interest.

Left 4 Dead 2. It has zombies so I thought I'd like it but it just got so boring. Maybe it was because it's the censored Australian version but I just couldn't get into it. All you do is shoot fucking zombies!

Skyrim or oblivion. It's first person. It's got a world to explore. Cool fantasy setting. But I find the whole thing soulless and uninspiring. I never found a drive to do anything in it even though I could do lots of things.

Well, the original Fallouts and Baldur's Gates. They're just so dated that I can't force myself to play them. Planescape Torment I could manage, since you could just talk and run your way through the game.

CIV 5. It is the prettiest, it has new features, it is the next step in the evolution of gaming... but much like civ 4 I don't like it as much as civ 3 and unlike Civs 3 and 4 I DESPISE CIV 5 IT'S A STINKING PILE OF CRUD
Oh man really? I just got it and I was hoping it would be good, not like Civ4. You think it could have peaked at 3? If you like that sorta game might wanna try Galactic Civilization 2, I love it.

I don't like Okami, it's got loads of things I like in games but it just bores me.

Batllefied 3, despite the awesome looking Frostbite 2 engine, the game just looks horrible on console due to the low res textures of everything, the maps feel far too big for the 24 player cap and the destruction is just minimalistic, it seems that 1 in 3 walls can actually be destroyed, which leaves the game in a state where no one even bothers with the destruction anymore. The environment variety is horrible too, as there are about 3 maps that arent set in a random desert, not that anyone cares though, because everyone seems to be obsessed with Operation Metro which is sad, because that is the least Battlefield like map.

The campaign is scripted to a point where you may as well just be watching a movie and just plain boring (aside from the mission Comrades which is actually really well done), when your squadmates slowly die-off, i didnt feel sad because i just hadnt made an emotional connection with them, so when squadmate #374 died, i was just like "Who?", even though i was most of the way through the game.

I then decided to get the PC version to try and fix the map size problem, but then i was met with another problem, not that many people play BF3 on the PC for whatever reason, so thats one game that i'll likely never play again.

The whole experience was just nowhere near as fun as Bad Company 2 which i still hold as the pinnacle of Battlefield games, that game was just brilliant.

The first Uncharted. It was so unrefined. Plus the plot was kind of boring, and the treasure at the end wasn't as cool as finding giant ancient cities.

I em astounded by the amount of escapist unable to play Fallout 1&2, though if you started on 3/NV I can somehow understand it would seem slowly paced to you.
Damn, you guys are making me feel old, 'cause I grew up playing original Fallouts (and Baldur's Gates) and I'm only 20.

On a similar note, my "why can't I enjoy this?!" game is Fallout New Vegas. It's a freaking Fallout game, it took step back from Oblivion pasted mechanics in 3 and went a bit closer to originals with dmg threshold/reduction and armor penetration, all those perks looked fun and survival skill actually seemed useful, yet I never made it out of the tutorial village. I blame that robot which greeted me with "Howdy neighbor!" instead of "The fuck do you want?" I somehow expect from Fallout game...

I loved Knights of the Old Republic, Sith Lords and, Dragon Age Origins. That being said, I absolutely loathed Dragon Age 2. I really liked the first Kingdom Hearts and, Birth by Sleep but 3DS is...well, it annoys the Hell out of me. Here's a weird one: I loved Zelda 2 and many, many other Zelda games. That being said, I absolutely hated Phantom Hourglass and, Spirit Tracks. I dislike Skyward Sword too...

Vagrant story sounded awesome and had everything I should have liked: it sucked.
Metal Gear Solid 2, don't know why to this day.

Games I should logically like? I'm not a computer what I like isn't in an on off state. It's a little more complex than that.

Borderlands. Shooter? Check. Open world? Check. Crazy, over the top guns? Check. A lot of those weapons? You bet your ass that's a check. RPG elements? That's a check. Sci-fi setting with strange monsters? Check. Final product? Dull, boring shooter that makes Call of Duty look fun.
I was in the same boat for awhile. Story sucked, and the game consisted of a whole bunch of wandering around in the middle of nowhere.

Then I played it with a friend, and it suddenly became about a million times better. Nothing beats nearly coming to blows over who gets the shotgun that shoots corrosive rockets.
I must throw in my hat and concur that Borderlands is pretty poor until you dive into it with a few friends. Friends being the keyword. Playing with friends is a great experience and can lead to great moments, especially in the better 2 expansion packs, but playing with strangers online was a shitty experience to say the least.

Fun just oozed from Bad Company 2, I couldn't enjoy Battlefield 3 after all they seemed to fuck up. The textures weren't a big issue for me but it was fairly ugly, lot's of bloomy light too and I hated that.

That depends on what you define "like" as. I like Batman: Arkham Asylum and think it does quite a few things well on every category it attempts, but I have zero motivation to actually play it. I like the original Metal Gear Solid, and indeed it's the only one in the series I like, but it bores me to tears to play the thing. I don't think there's any game I feel I should like but don't; that just seems silly to me. I can still admit that I like a game without liking actually playing the thing, but most people here have said "I should like this game even though it's absolute shit in my opinion in one or more areas", so I fail to see how it's really applicable; if it comes up short in areas you feel are important, why should you like it? Because other people do?
