Games you lose sleep for

At the moment, I'm playing "The World Ends With You" at 4 in the morning which keeps me up most the night, But mos other times I tend to just play whatever DS game is in the cartridge slot when I turn it on till the wee hours

This. For me at the moment its the latest advance wars, though I've been known not to sleep for 24 hours just because of the game Elite Beat Agents. Darn its addictive.

Oeudan Is the Japanese version of the EBA games, and it's funktastic too. Hard to find tho

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned real time strategy games or games like Civilization yet. Those ones really steal time and, before you know it, it's the wee hours of the morning.

Really, any sufficiently enthralling game does this. We just had gaming black holes [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.82504] thread. This is the same thread with barely shifted perspective. I would say, insufficiently different.

Dang two now? I'm really starting to wish I had searched more thouroughly but even if I had I wouldn't have thought to search "black holes" anyway.

I stayed up till 4 playing games many times. MGS4 this weekend, Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 a few weeks ago, Lego Star Wars a couple of times. You never fully recover.

Oblivion, and recently Gears 2 with the content filters on to appease my parents. I love the way you can play multplayer without having to deal with the people on XBL, thanks to the bots. GO EPIC WOOOO!

Living in a city, my internet is slow as hell at leak times and only gets good after Ten-ish. When I play (which is most nights that my girlfriend isn't here), I always only intend a few rounds then...

Fallout 3 recently did this to me with the whole one more quest/discovery syndrome. I would be telling myself I was going to stop then I look at the clock and its 4am. Before that the most recent game to have me playing in the wee hours was Bioshock, but hat was more due to the immense immersion going on that I completly lost track of time. Rather than keep telling myself I was going to do one more I was just playing for the sake of playing and forgot about the real world.
