Nobody seems to even like E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy...yet I cannot get enough. >.>
I think its main problem is that everyone can see the awesome that the game is, but the game is so fucking impenetrable with its awful tutorials and lack of desire to explain any of its dizzyingly complex concepts that turns people off.

[insert game with reasonably-sized, if not outright massive fanbase here, as "everybody else" means "a few hipsters"]

I'll admit I'm surprised at the Dragon Age 2 love here. It was lazily designed and goddamnit if I didn't love the shit out of it. Origins was so boring that my difficulty seeking ass put the game on lower difficulties because I was too disinterested to go balls deep into the combat system.

Since Dragon Age 2 seems to have a larger fanbase than I thought, I'm having a tough time thinking of a game that most everyone else hated (or so I've perceived).

Maybe Tenchu Z? It was such a shitty game, I'm still unable to figure out why I liked it so damn much. Except when combat was necessary. Fuck that game's clunky-ass fighting system. Fuck it in the deepest, spikiest, brimstone-iest corner of Capcom headquarters.

Wow, I was starting to feel like I was the only person in the world who loved Dragon Age 2. I actually just finished it again yesterday. We should start a support group :)
Count me in!

In ascending order: Dragon Age 2, SWTOR, Mass Effect 3. All three of those are great for playing out different characterizations, and it makes me sad how much hatred they get for such tiny reasons.
While I'll admit to not having played too far into SWTOR (not owning the game, or a computer that can handle it, puts a damper on playing it), I fully agree with you on all three. Hell, ME3 is one of my favorite games that I've ever played. While DA2 had its problems (lack of variety, mostly), the characters really made that game, and to see them so quickly dismissed is a bit disappointing.

I'll just pick a couple games that I haven't been able to get friends excited about, despite advertising them.
SpaceChem
Civilization V
Your friends are silly.

Although puzzle games and Civ-type strategy are acquired tastes.
They are.

I might have to report them to the appropriate authorities

I rented Final Fantasy XIII and I liked a lot and I love Army Of Two 40th Day, I haven't heard anyone saying good things about it.

I liked Two Worlds and Lost Odyssey. I'm still playing Lost Odyssey due to my backlog of games.

I tried to play that game. I stopped for two reasons.

1. I got stuck on the first boss, and with Lost Odyssey, level grinding is not really an option.

2. Those damn memories. I hated having my heartstrings played like a harp.

i liked Brink. Although i think in my books its getting extra marks for trying something a bit different.

i will admit it had its problems - huge hype, terrible maps, clickety guns, bad online/AI/mission design, impassable choke points galore, and bugs ahoy, but i still had heaps of fun. It was the first class/squad based shooter i had played in ages (at the time) and it was a welcome change to the usual cookie cutter online FPS. i wanted it to do well, but it didn't.

So Brink, you get my vote.

Tak and the Power of JuJu.
Some acquaintances and I were walking from class, exchanging pleasantries and what have you. We got on the topic of old games we liked, and the moment I uttered Tak and the Power of JuJu... instant ridicule. I don't know why. They've never played it. It's been ages since I played it, but I don't recall ever there being a moment where I thought, "This is trash, why am I playing this?" I actually thought it was quite good. Then again, I was (and still am) pretty easy to entertain. Still, I don't think their ganging up on me was really necessary over something so "matter of opinion." Hurt my poor wittle feelings.
