I lo-oo-OOved me some Advent Rising. Shame the trilogy never came to be...

Personally though, my favorite game of all time is the oft-misunderstood Chrono Cross. It seems to catch untold amounts of holy hell for A)Not being a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger and B)Having a unique battle system that you actually had to think a little to use.

Fable 3 has seen a few major improvements, the story being one of them. Still, I don't feel to much attachment to it as far as loyalty.
People keep saying the story is decent in that game, which I assume means that it gets away from the annoying Disneyesque cliches shoved down your throat at the beginning of the game. Or do people actually like that?

On topic, I liked Mirrors Edge a lot.

Mirrors Edge and Oblivion.

Mirrors Edge was great and while it was short it was something new and fun which gave us a nfew new mechanics to play with (well, until the last part of the game which forgot about all that)

Oblivion just seems to be bombarded with shouts of "Morrowind was better!" Yes the levelling thing was silly, but it was still a good game jam packed with loads to do.

For me, it's Brutal Legend.
Finally. Your the 1st person I have seen that agrees with me on this.
"EVERYTHING IN THAT GENERAL DIRECTION MUST DIE!"
Best order ever given by a military tactician.

All of my friends that live down the block despise Minecraft for some reason, which I cannot fathom.
Maybe I'm being cynical, but I think a lot of the hate Brutal Legend receives here is down to Yahtzee's review of it... But it's just not a bad game. It's really not. It's also not a 'stealth RTS', and if you try to play it like Starcraft you're missing the point that the campaign so frequently tries to tell you: it's an action RTS. You can't intricately control your army because you don't need to, and if you're not double teaming with your units and making the most of your solos, you're going to lose.

On just personal experience: Braid.

Everyone I got to play it basically said "this fucking piece of shit fucking ugh..." and gave up by the time they hit that world 2 puzzle with the puzzle piece. Yeah, that one. It took me maybe 5 minutes to get.
Maybe I'm being thick but... which one?

Alpha Protocol.

The game while far from perfect, at least try to be creative and innovative, some very interesting concepts in the game. Sub-par execution yes, but at least it's not another generic crapfest.

I loved those games, so friggen awesome and yet so under appreciated. God damn I wish Advent Rising had a sequel, it deserves to be expanded on and finished.

Mirror's edge: shiny, speedy and challenging. (Some complain about the indoor areas and combat disarms, Isay points for mixing it up!)

Lost planet2: Teamwork beats everything always.(haven't heard hate on it but anything that isn't push right stick to melee is nowadays)

Old genre remakes on the XBLA.

FF 1 after 7 (do the math) It was my first and just cause it's different (like ALL of them) The internet gets a raging hate-on for this game.

To turn this thread sideways,I hate Mw2 the customization:fantastic controls,framerate,co-op all good. But despite that the anger that the game generates in me and others is well to put it politly un-Fuckingbearable. When somebody can generate vicious energy(enough to power at least hawaii on a busy day) in another by sitting down with a good gun and campin' That is both a miracle and A Pact with what ever evil force you believe in or your worst enemy either way.

As purveyor of discount bins I have come across some fairly mediocre games. However, there is one that I enjoyed despite the disdain held for it: Enter the Matrix. Don't get me wrong, it had a lot wrong with it. For instance, the driving portions are awful, but I really enjoyed the combat and the story along with it. I actually think the gun controls are better than The Path of Neo.

There is also Gun. Before Red Dead Redemption this was the only decent open world western out there. It's thankfully rare boss battles were the exact opposite of fun and it was really short, but I loved the story and presentation.

Final Fantasy 12

best FF game IMHO but it is always hammered by people here. AlsoKillzone 2. People ***** about the controls but all I hear is "Its not like everything else I've played before so I'll just disown the game because I refuse to take the time to learn how to master the controls." [small]Mumblemumblestupidnoobsmumblemumble.[/small]
I liked 12 and it's combat system. I haven't played kill zone but hey how can you mess up a shooter?

Alpha Protocol which is probably in my top ten video games.

I also liked FFX-2, probably the last GOOD Final Fantasy game. ::hides::

I loved that game, played through it so many times.
Yet so many people seem to despise it.

Are there any games which you think are great, but for whatever reason, everyone else thinks completely suck?
I'm the only one in the whole circle of people I'd call "friends" who actually loves World of Goo

...but it's got a story...and criticism....and one of the most beautiful soundtracks EVER composed....

I don't think that many people despise it, the game sold well and got good reviews. I think, the people you know who despise it are just a loud minority.

Digimon World 2. Maybe it's just my nostalgia talking, but that game was non-stop fun, I can't fathom how it got average scores in the 6.0 region.
