Oh don't get me started.

Championship Manager series (pre-2005), Football Manager series (post-2005)
Incredibly addictive yet simple (for many years it was completely text-based) football management simulation. I urge you to try it because not since Tetris has a series been this addictive.
Ummm, isn't CM/FM one of the most well-known franchises in the world?
I know of only a few people who will admit to playing it.

Oh, I'm sure it's been played and sold a lot - like you said, they wouldn't have made sequels if it weren't profitable. But I have yet to find anyone else who has played or bought it. And that's including on the interweb tubes.

Addition: Anachronox was so much fun. I'd love to see those sequels.
There's a difference between Playing and Buying.
Heck I didn't even own a NES or SNES but friends did so I've played a whoooole lot of games on those..

And.. There won't be another Anachronox. Anachronox Prime (Which would pick up the story right after "Let's get breakfast!") is cancelled and there is no plan on making it. Ever.
Despite a whooooole lot of petitioning and shouting.

Wow. I do agree with you, the CM series of games is definitely on the level of "Just one more hour" equals "Holy shit it's morning... and Thursday?!"

Toca Race Driver 1&2.
I'm quite sure no one here played those.
I have Pro Race Driver and Toca 2 and 3 all on my Xbox. I also have GRID for my 360 which is the sequel to 3. I love that series as it was finally a really good racing (simulation) series that wasn't either Gran Turismo or Forza. It also expanded on the whole career aspect with the different series that you could race in.

XIII on the original Xbox, I loved it where as others thought it was awful.
YES. Really loved the story mode, bit annoying that it ended on a cliffhanger but there's no sequel in the pipeline though.

Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future. I'm the only person I know who owned JSRF, and the only person I know with a copy of the original was the friend whose Dreamcast I played it on.
JSRF! that game was seriously lolsworthy, and I came to love some of its soundtracks! Never finished it though - I got it with the original Xbox, along with Halo... guess what ended up taking all my time ;)

Didn't even know there was an original... let alone that being a sequel, lol.

Blobbo (a great old puzzle game) and Planescape: Torment.

Many probably know P: T, especially here, but I don't know anyone who has played it apart from me and my brothers plus my brother's friend who borrowed it.

We still have it, though.

It seems few people know of Call of Cthulhu (VG) in my friendship group.

Oh well, Cthulhu will come and devour them all!

I like GRID, don't get me wrong, but it murdered the franchise, disposing of the storyline and of the variety.
I guess the old Race Driver days have passed.
