Sorry for double posting but my stupid phone refused to keep typing in the same box. Lol

I will say to those who mentioned the Tiger Woods game and Smite that those instances do sound incredibly shady at best. If that is how it happened you have my sympathies. I'm not doubting you really it's just the first I've heard of either. The Tiger Woods thing could slip under my radar easily as I couldn't possibly care less about golf in any form. (No judgement there just a fact). I'd have thought that I would have heard of the Smite thing though. I don't play the game or the genre at all but MOBAs are so absurdly popular I hear a lot about at least the major debacles just by accident of paying attention to gaming news.

Not saying you guys are making anything up I'm just surprised I didn't hear more uproar if it was this bad.

Just wanted to put in my two cents and inject another viewpoint into a mostly onesided convo.

If it helps (I'm Tiger Woods guy), I was just as shocked as you are that there was no uproar on this too. I even Googled the game a bit to make sure EA hadn't shut down the online servers yet since the purpose was to play with my friends and the downloaded course thing never showed up on anything I saw.

Even better with the lack of outrage...Tiger Woods 12 evidently had the courses locked this same way but consumer complaining set it up so that you could unlock the courses in 13 via playing the game and earning coins. So at some point, people WERE unhappy enough wit this to get it changed. Maybe it was fatigue of having to fight it again or maybe people don't care about it now like they did back then...

Even now specifically searching for the download issue I can only find a handful of dead threads talking about this issue. I did finally find an "official" review stating about the course thing if that helps for proof (I don't think you were actually asking for proof but here it is anyway)

From the Review:
Last year, EA implemented a method for players to earn course unlocks. It was possible to earn coins, redeem them for play on a DLC course, and then meet certain objectives to unlock that course permanently. It took a lot of effort to unlock courses, but it was possible to do so without dropping cash to buy the DLC.

For some reason, people felt that EA was somehow trying to rip them off. It boggles the mind, but the complaints actually made EA revert back to the tried-and-true pay-for-DLC method. So, while Tiger 14 comes with a record 20 courses (26 in the stellar Masters Historic Edition, including the 1934 Augusta layout), you?ll still have to drop an additional $60 to own them all.

Maybe that's why there's no outrage though; the record 20 courses on the game so even though courses missing are needed to do a full PGA tour, they are getting more courses this year than they ever have before (this is my first golf game I've bought so maybe fans of the series think it's a great deal only by comparing to what they used to have). I may very well be the only one who is incredibly outraged that courses on the PGA Tour are locked and everyone else doesn't think it's that big of a deal...
