Knights of the Old Republic. I rented it at Blockbuster many moons ago and couldn't get into it because I didn't understand how to play. I was about 10. A few years later I played it again. I've beaten it and its' sequel many times. :D

Like a lot of people I got Mass Effect but got very pissed at several issues on the 360 version like the elevators and the terrible save system. I decided to try it again a few months later and loved it going on to buy Mass Effect 2 which was an amazing improvement to all of the issues I originally had with ME1.

Another one was Shadow of the Colossus. I heard a lot of amazing things about it and watched some videos and was very impressed. However, when I bought it I beat the first Colossus and just didn't like it so I sold it to Gamestop. A couple years later, after hearing more praise and seeing more amazing videos, I went back to Gamestop and bought it used and haven't looked back.

For Christmas I got the saw game. I played it for about an hour and gave up on it. A month later I kept playing and now I actually love the game. Yes the Saw game, I really like it.

World of Warcraft

My first 2 characters were on some tiny no-name server and I hated it. I rerolled on a larger server in early 2005 and loved every second of it. Haven't stopped playing since, and have no accrued over 450 days playtime.

Bioshock. First playthrough left me about 1/4 through the game thinking "Why do I bother?" Next time around, about 2 years later, I managed to rip through the game in one sitting. Absolutely phenominal!

Oblivion, originally I hated it, preferring linear story guided RPGs. But then I played Fallout 3, loved the Mad Max -do what I want- feel, and then I went back to Oblivion and loved it. Despite the the flaws...

OK here goes.

Resident Evil 4. Had the Gamecube version, sold it halfway through, bought the PS2 version, sold it to get the Wii version.
SoulCalibur 3. I sold this game and then re-bought it a year later when I realized I missed it. And the custom character builder. I sold it again cuz I wanted SC4.
The Devil May Cry (then-)trilogy.

I felt this way about DDO: Eberron. Then I realized the free-to-play version cut all the fun stuff out, so I got me a membership and here I am...

Fallout 3. First time I played it I just rushed straight through the story, wasn't very excited by the game. I reinstalled it a few months back, after picking up some of the DLC stuff on sale. This time I just walked around randomly and did side quests and whatever I felt like...I liked that so much more, and sunk alot of time into it.

Everything deserves a second chance!

Erm...Fallout 2. I hated it at first. Then, I gave it a bit of a chance and I loved it. But...I started to hate it again...

Prey for me, I saw the trailers and thought "awsome!" then got the game and was underwhelemed by it at first, the cheesy writing, simple game play, wierd story and so on... but then I installed it again about 6 months later, thinking id give it another shot and loved it, cheesy writing and all, it wasnt irritating anymore, instead it played out like a huge sci-fi B movie and was awsome for it!

I guess I'm not the only one concerning Mass Effect.

The citadel and the lack of running kind of frustrated me, and after having the chance of going everywhere, i decided to stop playing for a good while.

Then i decided to play it again a couple of months later. I did damn near everything in all my five playthroughs of my soldier character.

It's wierd too, because i remember when it was first announced, and i read an article on gamespy, thinking i couldn't wait to try it. I try it, dissapointed, come back, and it exceeded my expectations.

The entire Hitman series. The first time I bought it (I got every single one in a box set) I hated it. But a couple months later I played them and loved them. So much in fact that Hitman:Blood Money is one of my favorite games of all time.

I REALLY hope this will be the case for Starcraft, I just can't get into it.

OT: Guild Wars. It really does get better once you get past the Pre-Charr world, though I haven't gotten much further than that.
