Although it was actually bought for me, The Force Unleashed 2 would have to have been the most disappointed I've been with a game.

Seriously, easiest part of the game = climax boss battle...

COD: Black Ops. $89. Why the fuck did I do that when I can never play online and the single player makes my eyes hurt.

The Devil May Cry series just pisses me off every time I play it. Also, I regret buying red dead redemption. I really thought I would like it b/c its a fucking sandbox cowboy game; but, there is absolutely no narrative and I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. If it were an RPG, at least I would be interested in my character but it's not... so I'm not.

Metroid: Other M.

Star Fox Assault, the one StarFox game I played without researching at all. And I found out why it sucked as the credits rolled 3 hours after I booted the game: Presented by Namco.

Final Fantasy 13 - too linear 80% of the time / too much hand-holding / overall feels disappointing compared to how great previous FF games felt -->FF7-FF8-FF9-FF12-FF:Tactics are my top favs.

GTA4 - too much follow-chase-tail car(X) missions / too much social crap / too serious

Portal 2. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but it has no replay value. I really should have just rented it.
User created levels soon to come pouring in for that so you'll get more value there.
If the PS3 gets them, and it should be able to stand on its own feet without the customers creating content for it.

I'm sure once the DLCs hit I'll be glad I bought it, followed by the regret of not just renting it.

Dragon Age: Origins
Fallout 3
DBZ Burst Limit
CoD: Black Ops
Halo Wars

DA:O and Fallout both suffer from the same kinds of issues I think. They're slow, clunky, and just not much fun if you aren't into exploration.

Burst Limit and Black Ops are just horrible games in general.

Halo Wars had potential to be fun, but the central hub base design idea is just bad, and it had a lot of balance issues. *cough* Warthog rush *cough*
Now I'm going to post which game I regretted buying but seeing your post on Halo Wars, is forcing me to drop you some wisdom: If you didn't scout the Warthog Rush, you deserved to get Warthog Rushed! Right now I feel like half the douche?s on the Starcraft 2 forums but you have to know what your enemy is building in order to counter it, and how do you know what they are doing? Scouting!

There I sadly know this, because I still play it -.-

Games I regret buying, Red Dead Redemption, I just don't like the long horse riding sections which is half the game, too boring for me

GTA4 - Was so dull compared to the older GTA games plus the vehicle controls were terrible
Vehicle controls? Well i love gta4 controls, i played some san andreas today at my friends place and i couldn't believe how much it sucked.

OT: Darksiders - can`t force myself to finish it, the fact that i got lost and had no clue where i was supposed to go the last time i played puts me off even more than the mediocre gameplay.

Infinite Undiscovery. Adding voice acting to say in a nasaly voice the name of the technique I'm performing makes me wish I was deaf.

Master of Orion 3... dear god that game was terrible and I absolutely love grand strategy games.

Dragon Age 2 has honorable mention more than anything to having some of the laziest and unimaginable level designs that I could think of. First I go into a cave that has a certain layout... just down the road from this cave there's another cave with EXACTLY the same level design. Still not a terrible game IMO, just could've been much better.

In no particular order...

X3 Reunion (the whole series in fact): A space flight sim with the explorative freedom of a concentration camp where you're only allowed to walk with your shoe laces tied together.

Doom 3: Bored me so much right from the word go that I almost lost the will to live zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Assassins Creed: Lack of actual assassinations and an assassin who's always blowing his cover.

Batman Arkham Asylum (PC version): Games for Windows Live...nuff said. Fantastic game otherwise (on either console).

Gears of War (PC version): Games for Windows Live and - by a hundred miles - the buggiest game I had ever NOT played, at least until a week later, when I reinstalled it in the "correct" directory and applied a user-made GFWL bypass. Otherwise, it wasn't a bad game once I got going.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Eschewed dedicated servers in favour of the shitty console lobby system, no lean controls (I know it's a petty niggle, what with that being an integral part of gameplay, a singleplayer campaign that was much shorter - and made far less sense - than it's predecessor and the distinct impression it gave me that it is a completely unnecessary sequel.

Call of Duty World at War: I enjoyed it for a time but then regretted encouraging unimaginative sequels with my money, damn!

Metal Gear Solid 4: Would you please let me play for more than 15 minutes at a time!?

Star Trek Online: Just because it was a space game with proper interstellar travel I stupidly went and bought a lifetime subscription! Just avoid this crap!

Tales of Monkey Island: Wish I'd payed more attention to Escape From Monkey Island's warning signs that the series is stagnating. Only played the first episode, gave up half-way through the tedious forest maze.

Monster Hunter Tri: Tedious, irritating, often counter-intuitive, shit! Basically every bad MMO feature mashed together into a single game whose only use I can think of is as a cure for WoW addiction.

Dead Space: About as scary as being jabbed in the ribs unawares by my sister, a protaganist who's nothing but a grunt machine, for whom ve must be sympathetic because ze game says so (especially when he puts his hand on his head at the end as if to say "grief simulation active") and a plot I found impossible to care about because to my mind, the only sensible thing to do would've been to set the self destruct and fuck off, or better still, set the self-destruct and leave him there to die for he won't be missed (see also Doom 3).

Far Cry 2: Just...plain...shit!

Titan Quest: Kill kill kill, loot loot loot, teleport back to the village and sell off the loot, repeat.

Company of Heroes: Not a bad RTS apart from being set in the done-to-death, now uninteresting WW2, plus I later got a free copy with my last graphics card upgrade anyway.

Brutal Legend. I tried really hard to like that game, but the RTS boss battles and Jack Black saying the same lame jokes repeatedly ruined the game for me.
Deadly Premonition. Any game where you can't get past the first QTE-even though you press the right button on time or move the correct stick in the correct direction-isn't very good.

Turok (XB360): I like Turok Evolution for the Xbox Original and figured, 'Hey, why not?'
Crackdown 2 (XB360): Why, why couldn't it be different from the first? It might as well have been an Expansion.
Oblivion (PC): After being a long term Morrowind player, Oblivion truly disappointed me, let's hope they can figure stuff out with Skyrim.

Um... bear with me, I can think of more...
